ABC News has learned that Republicans and the White House have struck a tenative deal to raise the debt ceiling before the Aug. 2 deadline.

It's not done yet, but here is the framework of the tentative deal they have worked out, according to a source familiar with the negotiations:

This IS an absolute disaster but one that pretty obvious in coming. Boehner has been open that he was willing to cut a deal that most of his caucus would oppose and that is probably what we have. The cuts are tiny reductions in the rate at which government spending grows. Obama gets trillions more to play with. The leverage the Republicans had over Obama with the debt ceiling issue will be gone at least for the next couple of years. The BBA vote was going to happen anyway. Boehner can call a vote on that at any time and Senate Republicans were going to tack it onto legislation in that chamber anyway. The commission recommendations will be like every other deficit commission in history — utter nonsense. The automatic cuts sound nice, but even if there are no gimmicks the amount of cuts is a drop in the bucket. This will pass, we'll lose our AAA bond rating and everyone will hate both parties. Sounds like my kids just got rooked by a bunch of RINOs and emperor Barack the first.

It’s stupid and damaging to cut spending in very government program? LOL Okay, sure, we’re going to have to disagree there.

Anyway I’m not going to debate specific provisions until we have the actual bill and language. I’m having a hard time believing the Democrats are guaranteeing cuts or else they’ll okay cutting off grandma and grandpa at the holidays. Not that it will happen but that’s what republicans are accused of when they want to cut entitlements.

I could not disagree more. If we went into default, the GOP was done.

Now the economy is still on Hussein’s shoulders and can’t be blamed on the GOP. If we can’t beat Hussein now with as bad as this country is, then we don’t deserve it.

Of course, that may require some of you to hold your nose and vote for Romney if he’s the candidate...will you do it? That’s the bigger question.

Uhmmm...the $2.8 TRILLION will have to be repaid by the taxpayers, with interest. Mostly taxpayers who haven’t been born, or even conceived yet. Do you get it? This is a $2.8 TRILLION dollar tax increase ON THEM.

They wanted two TRILLION plus more dollars to squander, and they're going to get it.

...and if they do it right, they can spend it all by Sept. 1, 2012. ;)

They agreed to extend the debt ceiling past the 2012 elections, agreed to some stupid committee making decisions, or across the board cuts, which are stupid, see my earlier post a few posts back.

Nobody agreed to actually pass a balanced budget amendment.

Nobody agreed to “no new taxes”, only not right this minute.

This is all just to save face, the only thing the Dems wanted, is a large increase in the debt ceiling and they got it. None of the other stuff is real.

I agree Elendur, and this is not a win for the Republicans no matter how they try and paint the picture. And it’s certainly a loose for the people. These cuts are “nothing” for the size of the overall debt. To even imagine 12 men in a room are going to agree to cuts for the good of the public? Not going to happen...they are all open for blackmail of the worst kind for what they might determine.

Worse is Obama....I said he’d put on his hero cap and come into this, he’s holding his Ace’s and will use them...come out smelling like a rose. I hate him.

‘respectfully, i disagree. our best chance to survive as a nation, was to NOT raise the cap.’

The GOP position was to raise the debt limit. You and I might not like it, but it can’t be considered a defeat of the GOP position.

You can cut the bloated federal payroll and cut salaries, perks and bennies immediately. You can stop subsidizing and giving away money immediately. You can repeal and abolish ObamaCare immediately without hurting anyone. You can shutter and close entire departments and we’d never miss them. You can quit supporting every damned liberal/communist cause that comes down the pike, including public broadcasting, acorn, seiu, planned parenthood, the UN, etc. You can quit spending our money on illegal aliens! You can declare victory and bring our troops home. You can cancel the damned shovel ready projects and bridges to nowhere! You can stop the asinine bullet trains. You can knock off the endless studies. You can stop the damned federal wars against industry, energy, capitalism and the formerly free American people!

Limbaugh was already proven wrong about the Boehner Bill becoming the Reid bill (Red State’s idea as well).

I think this was leaked to destroy it, because I don’t see 0bama going to his base with this bill.

I’ve been accused of being too negative. But like you, I listen to people who are a lot smarter than I am who tell me things are bad and going to get worse.

Early Sunday vote has been “postponed” by Reid...

In the words of Susana Rosanadana, "Never Mind". Man does this make Reid look bad.

I've warned y'all for a long time that if you nominate Romney the GOP is done.

But it may not matter anymore. You may well be done now in any case.

I think this is brilliant. It means Obama “owns” the economy and likely will lose in 2012. If the GOP let this country go into default (and you can bet your bottom dollar the press and everyone else would have blamed the GOP), then Obama would win in 2012 because he would claim the economy mess was a result of default. It would also mean losing the House in 2012.

Sometimes you guys need to take small victories in the pursuit of the large victory. This probably assures Obama is out in 2012.

Agreed.

Frankly, I think 0bama wanted this done by the start of Ramadan. I have always thought so. Besides, 7 + 3 + 1 adds up to 11, a very good number for islam.

Yeah. It’s ‘apparently’ tin-foil.

But I believe it’s true.

‘I say, you had the WH, the House and the Senate from 2003-2006 and what did you?’

We didn’t have the WH in 2003-2004. Bush was President.

Explain, The GOP got everything it wanted

NO INCREASES IN TAXES and Dollar per Dollar cut. Exactly!!! But it shouldn't surprise you that a lot of people here will complain until the cows come home because we didn't shut down gov't and erase all $14 Trillion in the next 2 weeks. This is a good thing and bodes well to get Obama out of office.
