STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The Muslim American Society of Staten Island and Brooklyn, which was rebuffed in its efforts to establish a mosque and community center in Midland Beach, has quietly purchased a former Hindu temple in Dongan Hills for its purposes.
The confirmation of the society’s new location ends speculation among neighbors about what was going on in the building for sale down the block, where men were seen filing in and out on a daily basis for the past few weeks, often at Muslim prayer times.
Some neighbors profess concern about the project, although it remains to be seen whether the vitriol will match the levels reached last year when the society eyed the former convent at St. Margaret Mary R.C. Church in Midland Beach; the society contracted to buy the building before the parish trustees vetoed the property transfer.
The Dongan Hills building, at 180 Burgher Ave., changed hands in June and the building is undergoing renovation.
While there is no official opening date, and not so much as a sign outside, an invitation-only open house for immediate neighbors, clergy and elected representatives is planned for Friday, said Dr. Mohamed Sadeia, a physical therapist and president of the society’s Staten Island/Brooklyn chapter.

Islam is virtually unique among world “religions” in that it contains an imperative to world conquest. Not all or even most Muslims in America may take that seriously now, but dismayingly large numbers of these nominal worshipers “get religion” every year.
Did the Hindu sell it directly to the islamics or was there a secret go between purchaser?
Don’t we have a deal where when a mosque is built in the United States, a church is built in Saudi Arabia?

The worst part about a new mosque in your neighborhood is Muslims will start moving into it. Your property value will plummet and you will sell at a loss to get the heck out
30 years ago the wealthy mafia guys would build houses in Staten Island. The place was very Italian, Irish and Catholic and was (still is) the most conservative borough of NYC
The old school guys would have made it known to the Muzzies not to build a Mosque on Staten Island
Did they kill or threaten all the Hindis so the temple came on the market?
