Is America Ready for 'George W. Bush on Steroids'?
The Atlantic ^ | AUG 6 2011 | JOSHUA GREEN

HOUSTON -- The days leading up to "The Response," Texas Gov. Rick Perry's prayer rally at Reliant Stadium, had looked a little grim for the governor and the event's organizers. Only about 7,000 people had confirmed that they would attend a venue that seats 71,500, and the controversial roster of sponsors -- including the American Family Association, which is labeled a "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center -- drew as much attention as the event's stated purpose of praying and fasting for the nation's improvement.

I thought the day's shrewdest political insight came from Dr. Richard Land, the former president of the Southern Baptist Convention and a sixth-generation Texan, who I bumped into in the hallway after Perry spoke. "If he runs, he'll be a strong candidate," Land told me. "He's a charismatic figure. I think about him on stage with the other candidates and he'll stand out. He's not a wallflower. But the most interesting question for me is whether the country is ready for somebody who looks and sounds like George W. Bush on steroids."

Right now, today and since January 9, 2009, I would welcome W back to the White House.

He would be madder than h*ll about our SEALS being murdered and do something about it, not just issue condolences from the Camp David hammock.

JMHO

I don’t like Perry. He’s just a step above Romney.

Y tiene muchos amigos en Mexico. (He has too many connections in high places in Mexico).

It’s the New World Order, folks. Sorry.

False prophets seem to pop up daily. I agree, if you loved GW Bush you’ll love Rick Perry! He’s primed for amnesty, the NAFTA Highway, a “boy next door” Globalist with a background as a cheerleader. He should do very well with the groupie crowd. But wait! We’ve already got one of those in the White House.

Thank you, Paperdoll.

America needs an Educator, it seems to me. If, as many assert, 40-45% will still vote for the Indonesian Kenyan, then something is fundamentally wrong with American people’s understanding of how the world works. I don’t see the Swiss ever voting for a neo-marxist for their president, nor do I see the Singaporeans doing it, or the Chinese in Hong Kong.

The past three years have been an object lesson of how not to govern a country. Obomba and his people have achieved a bloodless Marxist revolution in this country, and America now resembles Russia right after the 1917 revolution. Capitalism is just barely tolerated by the gang in power.

Look at it this way: Oliver Stone could cast Josh Brolin for a movie again, this time to play Perry.

I despise HW Bush almost as much as Mitt Romney, he should never, never have been President.

1. Rubio/Perry would be better! 2. "American Family Association, which is labeled a 'hate group' by the Southern Poverty Law Center"... Truth is the SPLC is the hate group of the two!

What do you mean? Seems I remember Perry pulled the ‘Sanctuary City’ bill back up in the special election to try to get it pushed through. That bill had many of the same components AZ1070 in it. Or didn’t you notice?

It wasn’t Perry’s fault that the many RINO’s who supported Bush are still in the Texas House and failed to pass it.

Do you not know the definition of a Globalist, a One Worlder? Obama is one, the Bushs all are Globalists and one Worlders. Are you happy with where they all have taken us? Come on. RINOs helped to bring us us to the brink of Communism! Obama is just icing the cake!

GW was a HORRIBLE President. He continued the big government spending, pushed for amnesty, he also promoted the ‘everyone should own a home’ program which accelerated the downfall in 07, started a controversial war based on false foreign intelligence, refused to declare English the official language, etc... Yea he gave us a paltry tax break, Whoopie! Just like his father he espoused the one world order mantra. We need a TRUE conservative in the White House.

If it’s Perry, I’ll vote for him. While I hold my nose.

Perry is another New World Order tool.

Oh no, not that. The exalted Morris Dees has issued yet another damning proclamation.

-"How ‘ bout a Perry/Rubio ticket?" Rubio is too valuable to waste as a VP. I wish he would run today, he would be the best candidate. He is the real deal, and he's the best speaker since Reagan.
