But many are wondering why a man convicted of assaulting a 16-year-old prostitute would be welcomed back into the office by supervisors in the first place.

"There is no provision in state law or the collective bargaining agreement that allows WSDOT to terminate a represented employee's employment based merely on the existence of a criminal conviction not directly related to the scope of his or her employment," says agency spokesman Steve Pierce.

You can’t mention one without mentioning the other.

This wouldn’t have happened if it were a union prostitute.

This is truly amazing.

I once worked for an electric utility where one of the employees, an engineer, was charged, tried, and convicted of child molestation.

His employment was terminated upon his arraignment.

It is the union that is protecting this man.

I officially volunteer to be in the first group that colonizes the Moon. I want to be as far away from this nonsense as possible. After that, onward to Mars. I’ll make the six month journey with the guarantee that I will never be subjected to this crap ever again.

The “Moral Turpitude” is a condition of Professional Engineer License. What are they talking about? Revoke his license and terminate him for the qualifying for the condition of his employment.

Back in January he was arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old prostitute at his Bellevue apartment. That charge was later reduced and he pleaded guilty to 3rd degree assault -- a felony. He served just 2 days in jail.

What planet do you live on where a guy has sex of any nature with a 16 year old, of any disposition, and is then only sentenced to two days in prison?! Thank you Washington judicial system.

Fire him anyway and then dare the union to try to get him his job.

This is the same corrupt mob running our police departments across the country. Which explains the problems we are having there, too.

Good article. Thanks for posting it.

His job description didn't specifically mention "not assaulting or attacking a teenaged prostitute," so I don't see what the problem is.

I sure hope sarcasm comes across on St. Peters podium display screen.

Agree about the unions, Obama is after all, just one guy.

But, here is my question, this man stabbed TWO women (and robbed them), why wasn’t he charged with attempted murder?

This article lacks details. I mean, did he just stab them in the hand or some other body area unlikely to cause death?

OK, they were hookers, I get that, but it is not OK to stab and rob hookers. Or rape them either, but I’m always confused about how one rapes a hooker, unless I suppose one had not HIRED the hooker, but again, the article lacks details.

And why rob a hooker? I mean how much money are you really going to get by doing that?

This man is, by an definition, a serial assaulter of women. He needs to be in jail. That way the issue of his job will be resolved.
