OKEMAH, Okla., Aug. 15 (UPI) -- An Oklahoma man has been arrested after authorities said he called 911 and reported he put a pipe bomb on a natural gas pipeline.
Daniel Wells Herriman, 40, of Konawa, was arrested Friday, the FBI said, The (Oklahoma City) Oklahoman reported.
Special Agent in Charge James Finch said the bomb could have done extensive damage had it exploded on the Enerfin Resources natural gas line near Okemah.
"Thank goodness Mr. Herriman is not the greatest bomb-maker," Finch said.
The device, a 12-by-12-inch pipe bomb with gunpowder inside and a timing device, was discovered Wednesday by Enerfin employees on the pipeline, about 70 miles east of Oklahoma City, officials said.
Bomb technicians removed it and rendered it safe.
On Wednesday evening, Herriman called 911 and said he had placed the bomb on the pipeline, and a subsequent search of his house turned up bomb-making components similar to those found in the pipe bomb, Finch said.
Herriman, who has criminal record, was being held in Muskogee County jail and was to make his initial court appearance next week, The Oklahoman said.
He is not a current or former Enerfin Resources employee, FBI spokesman Clay Simmonds said.
Enogex, a subsidiary of Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co., operates the Enerfin Resources pipeline, and OG&E spokesman Brian Alford said the company had not received any threats.

UPI, ABC, CNN, Fox, Reuters, among others, all covered it. Perhaps the fact that it did not get more press suggests that it was not huge news. In a rare exercise of restraint the media failed to paint an angry white man as an extremist.
12” in diameter, and 12” tall? Yup, echoing what Charles Martel said, I have to wonder where he got the pipe and pipe caps that big. The purchase of that stuff by an individual would’ve made the police work very simple I’m sure.

If you are assuming a 12 diameter threaded pipe, you are assuming details not actually described.
For example this could be a bundle of 1” PVC, or a dozen other things.

Also, don’t forget the basic mission of the media these days: if the story doesn’t advance Obama or smear his opposition, it’s not news.
Perhaps it was 2-1/2” pipe bombs zip tied into an X.
If he was being treated in a VA hospital, it’s kind of surprising that Obama and Incompetano didn’t try to use it to re-introduce the “dangerous right-wing veterans” mantra.

IMO, you'd need one hell of a big PVC "pipe bomb" to harm a steel gas line. This, however, was most likely a hunk of (PVC) pipe 1/2" x 12". Some retarded reporter or editor removed the forward slash.
