Obama: Tea-party GOP blocking U.S. recovery
The Washington Times ^ | August 16, 2011 | Dave Boyer

A day after clashing with a tea party activist, President Obama Tuesday told crowds here that it was “a faction in Congress” that was to blame for blocking economic progress.

At a rural jobs forum, Mr. Obama ticked off a list of pending bills that he said would create jobs.

“The only thing that’s preventing us from passing the bills I just mentioned is the refusal of a faction in Congress to put country ahead of party,” the president said in a thinly veiled reference to House Republicans backed by the tea party. “That has to stop.”

...

Mr. Obama expressed urgency about the unemployment rate of 9.1 percent, saying “time is running out.” But time may also be short for his reelection prospects if the jobless rate remains high. No president in the past 50 years has been reelected with an unemployment rate of more than 7.2 percent.

The president said he will propose in September a specific plan to boost the economy, and he is challenging audiences to tell Republican lawmakers on their August recess to support his upcoming plan.

*** Does November 4, 2008 ring a bell? ***

True.
But at least those dopes knew a *little* about him, like his name, his wife, kids and that he sorta 'worked' (gave an occasional lecture) at the University of Chicago. But what he's *asking* now is one big, 'Trust Me'.

The last politician who came up with something like that was one who promised to get rid of all crime if the people would just 'trust his plan'. Well, they bought his plan and it did get rid of all crime, just as he promised.

Along with Six Million Jews.

Historically speaking, "Big Lies" do work. But the lesson of history in that respect is that lies must not go unchallenged until it is too late.

The "Tea Party" is not a political party. It has no headquarters, no leader, no phone number, no unique web site. It is made up of citizens, not politicians, and they come from all walks of life. The Tea Party has no elected representatives, no campaign funds, no lobbyists.

Obama's claim that somehow, these people are "blocking" America's economic recovery is not only specious, it is a damnable lie. Tea Party members agree on a few basic things: that our government has grown too large, spends too much of our money, and exerts too much power over our lives.

Who is spending trillions of dollars we do not have, demonizing and/or taking over businesses, aching to "fundamentally transform" America, and mortgaging our children's inheritance for unearned benefits paid in exchange for votes? It sure as Hell is not us.
