Today Perry speaks of Washington as an alien land, inhabited by irresponsible politicians. In his most recent book, Fed Up!, Perry criticizes President George W. Bush for giving free rein to spendthrift congressional Republicans. Ultimately, the record is fairly unforgiving for Republicans particularly in Congress who have been in power in Washington over the last decade or so, Perry wrote in 2010. They havent just spent our money wildly they have blatantly ignored our core founding principles.
This is the same message that Perry has brought to the campaign trail since the announcement of his bid for the presidency. It is not the same message that lobbyists whom Perry oversaw brought to Congress just a few years ago.

Bachmann? I hope not. I like her, but not enough to think she’d be a strong contender.
Wow, Time is vetting a Presidential candidate. Funny, they never get around to vetting Dem candidate for 2008 and 2012.
Every Republican and democrat has, at one time or another, sought earmarks — except maybe Ron Paul or other...
The bottom line is, Perry or Romney would undoubtedly be better than Obama on matters of tort reform, foreign politics, national defense, taxes, over burdensome regulation, etc. Perry, Romney, Palin, etc. are not perfect peopl — if you are looking for a perfect person, the last one died on the cross about 2000 years ago.
Don’t fall for the smear campaigns of Time magazine and other MSM outlets. WE MUST DEFEAT OBAMA.
As a Texan, I’ll vote for guv goodhair if he wins the nomination (I’m hoping Sarah will jump in)
Whoever the pubbies end up running as their candidate, I’ll vote for him. My creed is Anybody but obammy!
“My creed is Anybody but obammy!”
Yep, definitely NOT letting Time, the NYT etc. pick my candidate.
There is difference between requesting earmarks which you correctly say that all do and Perry saying: Medicare part D was wrong but shhh! I worked to pass it. He did this on several issues. Perry is not the guy we need. I can vote for people who changed their views. I can vote for people who made mistakes or disagree with me but I think Perry is dishonest.
I don’t like Huntsman but at least he’ll say “Yes, I back Civil Unions” instead of this non-sense that Perry and Romney push.
Joe, the problem is many of us are seeking perfection in a field that by its nature is full of imperfections (human beings being elected to public office).
Even the most pure conservative to many, Sarah Palin, endorsed McCain over Hayworth.
I like what Perry is saying now, and I like 99% of what he’s done as governor of TX. I like 0% of what Obama has done.
We can’t take this approach. Romney is attacked by the left more than anyone but I won’t vote for him.
Ron Paul has gone after and accepted earmarks as well. Every existing politician above the local level has also sought earmarks.
As some Ford execs pointed out when they accompanied GM and Chrysler to the first bailout hearings, they didn’t actually need the money - but if someone’s yelling about giving away free money, you’d have to be some kind of idiot to not at least go look into the matter.
Note to self: When I say the same thing as the NYT, its time to reconsider my opinion.
Add Time Magazine. Rick Perry has all the right enemies.
Divide et impera!
Expect much worse.
Nope, not seeking perfection. Already said I back Bachmann. She’s the real conservative.
And you want a Huntsman that wants civil unions. Probably best off not having said that. lol
I do not believe in unilateral disarmament. Then your enemy can bomb you out of existence.
In the same way, businesses and political leaders must work the system that is in place as it functions.
I have no doubt that the fed has taken far too much money from states and individuals for their idiotic projects. Ideally, that money would stay at home, but they take it and send it to washington.
It has been one of the politician’s jobs for years now to get their own money back to their state to spend on themselves.
I did not say I back Hunstman for president. Far from it. I won’t vote for either but I at least I know who Huntsman is and he doesn’t hide it (a RINO) while our frontrunners are phonies.
Ron Paul is the king of pork.
Perry is just trying to get our share of taxes brought back to the state. For every dollar we send into the abyss on the Potomac, we get back a little over 90 cents. The solution is to send fewer dollars into the sewer.
