Iraq's prime minister, Nuri Kamal al-Maliki, warned Arab leaders in a speech on Thursday that Israel would benefit the most from the Arab Spring.
"There is no doubt that there is a country that is waiting for the Arab countries to be ripped and is waiting for internal corrosion," he said in Baghdad. "Zionists and Israel are the first and biggest beneficiaries of this whole process."
Mr. Maliki, the leader of Iraq's Shiite government, rarely mentions Israel in speeches. But he warned that those Arab countries experiencing democratic revolutions should be wary of Israel's taking advantage of the turmoil.
"We must take notice and be careful not to be the prey of the ambitions of this usurping country," he said.
...Maliki... did not refer to Syria in the speech. He said that Arabs deserved to have more rights, but that they should gain them through the electoral process.
Since the uprising in Syria began... has invited many Syrian officials to Baghdad to discuss stronger economic ties between the two countries. He has also said far less about the Syrian government's bloody crackdown on dissent than he did when there was similar unrest earlier in Bahrain, where a Sunni monarchy holds sway over a predominantly Shiite population.

How about flotilla to Syria?

Because no one has shot him dead yet.
“Because no one has shot him dead yet.”
In that part of the world, any second!
I’m of the general belief that all, every one of these turds we deal with in the Arab Mideast is simply another variation on “turd”.
Oh, there are albatross turds and bear turds and cat turds and dog turds and elephant turds and fox turds and goose turds and hippopotamus turds and ibex turds and etc; etc; And one might alphabetize them or rate them for their efficacy at being turdaceous....
But in the end they’re just turds.
That’s considered death by natural causes in the Arab and/or Muzzie world.
Seems to me that the only developments outside of Israel that could be benefit Israel is 1) the arab/Iranian world descending into a anarchy so total that it brings about huge humanitarian disasters that render those countries harmless to Israel or 2) the US and the UN decides to stop pushing Israel around.
“Thats considered death by natural causes in the Arab and/or Muzzie world.”
LMAO Good point!
The US election in 2012 should be greatly beneficial to Israel.
I hope the Libyan rebels appoint Ahmed Chalabi or maybe Jean-Bertrand Aristide. On second thought, if they have a phonebook in Libya, perhaps they should call on the first name they find on page 15.
My hope is that they continue to fight amongst themselves — a struggle that is both underreported and probably the main reason it took the silly bastards five months to get this far. Until Gaddafy’s in custody or his head’s on a pole, they’d better not do too much celebrating.
The Hyena cannot change his spots.
It’s called democracy. It doesn’t guarantee that the people will make wise or good choices, only that they’ll have to live with the choices they make.
Israel is benefiting from the tumult in Syria. So ultimately will the Syrians, Kurds, Lebanese, Iranians, and yes, the Palestinians. The internal corrosion of the Baathist/fascist state and the disintegration of the axis of evil is everyone’s gain.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

They are a LONG ways from a Democracy ,We should have Handed them a Constitution and said USE IT! Then put someone in that could be trusted!! After all “we won” and Paid for everything.
A whole lot closer than they ever have been. I’d say, let it be. You can’t force grass to grow. Democracy is a process.
