There is nothing insane about what the Democratic Party hierarchy has been doing the past five to six years. All of it is criminal and treasonous.
“I’m not making any statement about my personal views,..”
Yeah, right, sure, intentions as pure as New York snow.
“They would have said the same thing if they were asked before 2009, when this memo was released. That’s because it’s the position held by just about every expert in the field, not some crazy theory spread by a lone liberal.”
What you’re ticked about, Kleon, is that I caught you in a lie, and proved it in post #47.
The holding in Minor vs. Happersett concerning “natural born” citizen has been known since about 1874.
Just because Progressives and others don’t like it - it’s so unfair! - does not mean it has no weight as law.
If Sect.II/Art.01/clause 5 is so God-awful, then those who want it changed should go through the Constitutional process to add an amendment altering that eligibility requirement.
But they won’t do so because then the definition becomes widely known in the process, and the Democratic Party dreads exposure whereby their criminal acts will be in the light.
This is no tangent, Obot.
“Good to know that you live in reality, only thats the same crappy excuse criminals use.”
Hope you’re not implying that I’m a criminal of any sort. I can make this more personal if you wish.
This isn’t personal unless you’re telling me national law doesn’t matter - only getting away with something illegal and immoral is acceptable when everyone does it.
The Democratic Party has been practicing politics in a sleazy, corrupt manner for decades; any action, even illegal and in violation of the U.S.Constitution, is OK as long as in the end they succeed. I don’t want Republicans to fall into that same habit.
Conservative Republicans should never follow that despicable example.
I admire Marco Rubio and believe he has a glorious future in politics. But as a political party we shouldn’t lose our senses and decide to ignore the U.S.Constitution just to benefit one man.
Back in the 1970s there was talk of doing just that to put Henry Kissinger in the White House. Back in the 1980s, again, there was talk of changing the eligibility requirement for the presidency to allow Arnold Schwarzenegger to run for the White House. I’m glad we didn’t do so, because it would have been wrong then just as it is unquestionably wrong now.
Our Founders had incredibly good sense, and it has helped this nation for over two centuries. When something isn’t broke but works just fine when used properly, why fix it?
“No one cares about 1904 rulings. His election has successfully negated all of that.
Rubio was born on US soil. Thats the new defacto standard.”
You make no sense. The 1904 reference shows that, contrary to your reporting, it is not new.
Incidentally, it’s also not the standard. Citizenship from the time of birth is the standard.
