A 26-inch-long stone boxabout six times bigger than the kind Jewish families typically use to affix a tiny Torah scroll to their doorframeis being marketed as a Texas-sized Rick Perry mezuzah.
Earlier this summer, the Texas governor signed a law protecting religious displays outside homes, inspired by the case of a Jewish couple in Houston asked by their homeowners association to take down their small mezuzah.
MezuzahStore.com is honoring Perry by naming their largest mezuzah after him, designed to be just longer than the 24-inch allowance given by the new Texas law and costing $999.
The store clarifies they do not endorse Perry, now a presidential candidate, but support the law and want to poke fun at the bigger-in-Texas stereotype.
Mezuzot fulfill the Torahs commandment to display Gods teachings on the doorpost of your homes.

Ha! This is too cool.
Most refreshing sentence I've read all day. Should he win, Perry might well return this country to some semblance of sanity.
Do you have a Perry ping list? If so please add me. Thx

Perry deserves respect, for protecting ALL religions,
and allowing them to be practiced freely.
Shield,
“Outlaw Woman” wants to be on the Perry *ping* list.
Thank you.
Done. Thanks.
Thank you CW...didn’t realize anyone else was posting pro-Perry threads.

Perry ping.......
Thank you for adding the link!
Thank you for adding me shield.
Girls say that just to make others feel better.
Really, there is no replacement for displacement.
Hey, I have found the search isn’t too good here at FR. I did a number of searches on something I was going to post...nothing came up....then someone on the thread said it had already been on FR. So after that I did another search this time it came up but the exact one with the exact title that I had posted didn’t come up. I now check it out with key words to see if it’ll come up...usually it still will not come up.
You bet and you are welcome.
There must be a Stupid School for homeowners association officers. What possible advantage could there be in trying to outlaw mezuzas?
Amen.
I guess people have too much time on their hands.
This certainly is in line with Gov. Rick Perry’s campaign against over regulating.
Government (right down to homeowner associations) seem intent on regulating people and businesses to death.
We need to be snapped out of this mindset.
The law stems from a case in Houston where a landlord didn’t like Jewish tenants, if you want to drill down to the bottom of this.
But it’s a recurring issue in retirement communities, where they have nothing to fight over how many consequtive days grandkids can come over without the right to kick someone out.
