I felt it in New Kensington - it was like someone grabbed the back of my office chair and shook it a little. Others of my coworkers didn't notice.

Yeah I grew up near one of the more active areas in CT, Moodus, a section of East Haddam. Moodus is a local Indian word for ‘Little Noises’. We’d get ~3.0 quakes pretty often, enough to feel, but not do any damage.
My wife slept through Kobe ‘95. She was in Kyoto.
Have there been any aftershocks at all? I thought it was common to have a bunch of 1s and 2s after a decent sized quake. Isn’t it a bit unusual to have none? Or are east coasts quakes different in this respect?

The first earthquake that I ever felt was in Whittier, CA. I not only felt it, but heard it. It sounded like a train coming down the road.
Have to keep in mind that the Washington Monument is just a skinny tall pile of stones, there is no structural frame. Gravity and stone mass are what keep it place since they started construction in 1848.
With a height of 555 feet the lateral movement is a lot greater the higher one goes. Wouldn’t be surprised to hear of cracks.

In addition to what is shown on this very helpful map, also reported on this FR live thread: South Carolina, faint, Louisville; Ontario, maybe; Michigan, 10th floor swaying; northern Vermont; Boston; Rochester NY; eastern Tennessee. The most interesting was the report of a mini-tornado near Dallas. Said no storm, but tornado moved in one direction and then reversed and moved in the opposite direction. Wonder if it was some kind of electromagnetic discharge. Also we are about to get some kind of solar flare hit (22nd to 24th) A 6.? was felt in Boston in the 1700’s a month after the terrible Lisbon, Portugal quake that killed many thousands. Wonder what else might happen in the next month or two.
