If she dug into this situation a bit....you’d eventually find that urban areas of the United States....where a higher portion of black males live anyway....are getting the sharper end of the spear of unemployment because business growth is non-existent. If you looked around at where growth of jobs was taking place....you’d realize that most smaller towns and cities are getting what job growth there is.

So you either pack up and move....or you simply sit in a pit...waiting for urban growth which will never come. And if you live in Illinois....no matter what type of race you are....you probably aren’t going to find job potential anyway.

Well, it is racism to say that since these people are black they shouldn’t be held to the same standard of behavior as everyone else.

What is this clown in an orange hat going to do for African Americans? I mean, truthfully?

Can't give you an answer to what's on her head but I can address the unemployment issue for blacks. I for one am sick and tired of hearing about racism being the cause of unemployment for blacks. It is blacks who bought and still buy into the welfare for votes on the dimocrat plantation so STFU. Blacks have destroyed their own communities and family structure with the welfare system. Kids don't even know who their fathers are and the mothers are having kids for a meal ticket. It all boils down to poor life choices. I for one think it's time to put a stop to tax payers money going to people who make poor choices with their life.

How come there is no mention of illegal immigration and its affect on the job market for Americans? One can’t resolve a problem if one does not want to see the whole picture.

There are many reasons blacks struggle more than whites the least of which is racism. Black leaders and Democrats for years have dished out federal welfare checks creating a dependent society. They have taught blacks that they are owed something and don’t have to work for it and that they are oppressed because of the color of their skin. Forget the fact there are black business leaders, doctors, lawyers, executives, Oprahs, athletes, etc. all who have proven blacks can be successful if they have the drive. We all know hard-working, achieving blacks who proudly bear their accomplishments.

Grim graduation rates for black males highlight racial gap
http://www.thegrio.com/specials/making-the-grade/grim-graduate-rates-for-black-males-highlight-racial-gap-in-schools.php
Are young black men ready for the increasingly brutal, knowledge-based job market in the U.S.? The answer is a resounding “no,” according to a new report, Yes We Can: The Schott 50 State Report on Public Education and Black Males 2010. Calling it a “national crisis,” the report found that only 47 percent of black males graduated from high school in the 2007-2008 school year.

The report’s authors also stated that the results of the eighth grade reading assessment test scores, which measure how many black males read at or above the proficiency level, “should set off alarm bells.” The “best” score was a dramatically low: 15 percent (Kentucky, New Jersey), and several states averaged only five percent (Mississippi, Nevada).

According to the report, “(M)ore than twice as many black students are classified as ‘mentally retarded’ in spite of research demonstrating that the percentages of students from all groups are approximately the same at each intelligence level.” The report adds, “The persistent over-classification of black male students as ‘mentally retarded’ reflects, at best, a lack of professional development in this area for teachers and other staff.”

Being black is more of a cultural/social thing than a racial thing.

There are plenty of “black” whites, just like there were white indians in the 1850s.

I work as a teacher’s assistant for a major online university, and one of the assignments I grade frequently is a reflective life story of my students, many of whom are blacks finally beginning college. The vast majority of them are women who began having babies at 14 or 15 after having grown up with mothers who slept around with abusive men, did drugs and ended up in and out of prison. One particular student really angered me with her story of gang rape, parental neglect and abuse, with a father who only wanted custody of her so he could get her ‘social security money to buy drugs.’ I don’t see how racism ever plays into these stories—most of these stories always break my heart and also reinforce the idea that the black community is self-destructing, not because of any outside influences, but because of the crime, sex, drugs and violence inherent in their own homes and community. All personal choices. The most sickening aspect of the stories I read over and over again is that these so-called ‘adults’ use children as a means to an end. And the cycle of waste and abuse continues, because all these broken people are brought into this cesspool of a world.

If her contention were true, which it is not, and because she has risen fairly high in her career and must therefore be representative of her constituency, my question is this...

...can you blame employers for not wanting people of her whining, I’m-a-victim, illogical, under-powered and/or under-worked mentality on the payroll?

The whole situation is sad, even tragic. The only thing basically wrong with many black men is the stupid culture of irresponsibility in which they are immersed. Fatherlessness is a disaster for many of them and coupled with the pseudo-victim status and the abhorrence for education that are aspects of that culture, they are truly in a downward spiral.

Conversely, when black men join the military services where they are strongly introduced to an ordered, disciplined system and a true functioning meritocracy, they do very well. I have known thousands of superb black Americans in the services who are among the most valuable citizens in this country. When they leave the service, they are much sought-after for the workplace because they are proven, productive men and women.

The material is excellent but it is spoiled by the trashy, undisciplined "culture" surrounding them. Heckova waste.

What Frederica there doesn’t want everyone to know is that a huge amount of black males DON’T truly want to work. They have become particularly adept at working a little while at the temp agency, quit because it might require some night, weekend and holiday hours as well as physical labor. Then they dabble at fast food, washing cars, cutting hair. They shack up with any babysmama that is getting “that check” or has a job herself, which is usually in the service industry. They have been doing this generationally.

They eventually get into stealing copper, burglary and dealing dope. You want to see some real unemployment in the hood? Legalize drugs.

Cong. Wilson, henceforth to be known as “The Hat”.

That red thing recalls the Don Imus show when his drugged out assistant Sid Rosenberg lost a bet and had to appear on camera in a Dale Evans cowgirl outfit complete with red hat and skirt, and had to sing “Happy Trails to You”.

Rosenberg was fired after 9-11 when he picked up a laundry parcel that belonged to a Twin Towers victim then said he kept the shirts because their owner was dead. Real class.

I thought racism was dying in this country.

But Obama exposed it by showing America and the world that many blacks are taught to keep it alive by expressing their hatred of whitey and by blaming all their woes on whitey's (non-existent) hatred of them.

That accomplishes two unwanted things for blacks. First, it alerts "whitey" that he is hated (and that such hatred is systemic in many black churchs) and, second, it prevents many blacks from accepting responsibility for their problems so that they can then solve them.

And then there is the very fact that the accusation of racism itself (by all on the left, black and white) is so obviously the projection of the racism they themselves embrace. When you are a racist, you assume everyone else is.

"When you look at African American males, 40% of them are unemployed, those under 30 years of age. ~snip~ So, we have a problem."
Yes 'we', as in you and the rest of 'Holder's People', do have a problem. Solely because of the choices those 40% of blacks 30 and under made starting 16 years ago. And that was -- DROPPING OUT OF SCHOOL you dumb ass. Then adding to their general lack of knowledge -- which reduces the odds of getting a GOOD JOB by a factor of 104 power -- was their other decision to talk in some language that only somewhat resembles English.

Like the mayor of Philly said, it's mostly 'grunts and groans' and nobody can understand you. It's so bad that on the TV Program First 48 they have to add subtitles for everything the Black suspects say during 'questioning'. Now that's something to really be proud of isn't it. Subtitles needed for Americans.

So take your 'Racism' and shove it up your ignorant patoot. The problem is with 'Your People', and how they've decided they WANT to live -- Period.

an aside: And lady, next time leave the Red Plastic 'Cowboy' Hat at home. The Circus left town a month ago and the Rodeo isn't coming until February.
