There's a certain element of posters here who believe Sarah Palin is entitled to the Republican nomination, that she can sit on the fence as long as she likes, it doesn't matter because as soon as she throws her hat into the ring the nomination is hers by virtue of being Sarah Palin.
To these people, Perry is a threat because he's picking up support from those who would've been in Palin's camp except not only have they gotten tired of waiting, they've started to question if Palin can actually beat Obama. They've demonstrated a lack of both patience and faith that has angered this element of Palin supporters.
As of now, I'm in the Perry camp. I believe he is the most conservative candidate that can beat Obama. The second part of this statement is very important to me. But make no mistake, if Sarah Palin earns her party's nomination, I will support her enthusiastically.
Couldn’t agree with you more. I love Palin and have supported her 100% since even before she was a VP candidate in 2008. I want her to run and earn the nomination if she can. I also think she has to be careful because running could diminish her effectiveness as a conservative icon.
I have to be pragmatic and it bothers me to see good candidates like Perry being trashed by my fellow conservatives. Of all the people I see running for President right now, Perry is the only one who can win. I understand he’s not perfect, but Palin also has baggage. If we insist on perfect, we’re going to end up with a second Obama term.
