Right after their big splashes into the fray as candidates, the numerous Republican hopefuls enjoyed somewhat of a bump in their polling data, but ultimately their numbers did settle. And that phenomenon seems to apply to Texas Gov. Rick Perry at least thus far, who after his announcement earlier this month has seen his stock rise. However, could Perrys prominence be here to stay?
On this weekends broadcast of the syndicated program Inside Washington, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer argued that in the case of Perry, he is here to stay and has the right message for electoral success.
Look, it could be a fluke a Trump phenomenon, but I think it is deeper than that here, Krauthammer said. I think [New York Times columnist David] Brooks is right in his column. He says he has a simple message which is, Smaller government, I made it work. I created jobs, which is a powerful force in the country today.
And unlike Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan who said he would not be a candidate in 2012, Perry has a message that is simple, which makes him formidable in not only the GOP primary, but also the general election.
It is what powered the Republicans to their astonishing success in 2010, he continued. It is sort of Paul Ryan without the numbers and the nuance. And its a message that if he keeps it simple, I think that could be a winning message, in the primary and even in the general election.
Rick Perry:
FIRST: "Don't spend all the money!"
SECOND: "Have a fair and predictable tax and regulatory policy!"
THIRD: "Have a legal system that doesn't allow for over suing and make loser pay!"
Pray for rain.Pray for Palin.
The Perry attackers will be here in 3. . . 2. . . 1
Ya think! Short of a October 2012 suprise of a nuclear category, he has the most cred’s. Like it or not.
You are either high or you don't live on the East Coast. Got plenty of rain already, thank you.

In the future, please post blog material in the bloggers forum.
Thanks,
It’s the economy stupid.
......and, it’s the 20% of independents that will decide key battleground States. You have to keep the message simple for the mushy middle.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
Figured someone else would hit that buzzer before now.
You are so predictable.
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.
Here comes the:
In January 2001, Perry proposed the Trans-Texas Corridor, a $145+ billion-dollar project that would build multi-lane highways, rail lines and data lines from Oklahoma to Mexico, and from east to west in southern Texas.
Instead of paying for the project with taxes, Perry proposed that it be partially financed, partially built and wholly operated by private contractors who, in exchange for a multi-billion dollar investment, would receive all toll proceeds, notably Cintra, a Spanish-owned company.
One of the more controversial aspects of the project was extensive use of eminent domain to acquire property. Opponents portrayed the proposal as a "land grab", and criticized Perry for opposing the public release of the actual terms of the 50-year deal with Cintra to the public for fear they would chill the possibility of the company's investment.
Perry's former liaison to the legislature, former State Senator Dan Shelly, returned to his consulting/lobbying work with Cintra after securing the TTC deal while on the state payroll.
All of Perry's gubernatorial opponents opposed the corridor project, as did the 2006 state party platforms of both the Democratic and Republicans parties.

Hush now. We don’t say anything positive about Perry on this site!!!
Maybe, maybe not. Kraut was dead on regarding Angle and the Delaware darling. I would vote for Palin in a second if she turns out to be our nominee, but Sarah will not get 50% of the vote from my republican family and friends. I’m afraid that the polls are correct, especially Rasmussen.
Chuck just gave Ric the kiss-of-death!
