Is Rick Perry dumb? (Stupid article by an Obama campaign staffer disguised as a reporter)
Politico ^ | 8/29/2011 | By JONATHAN MARTIN

Another Texas governor who drops his “g’s” and scorns elites is running for president and the whispers are the same: Lightweight, incurious, instinctual.

Strip away the euphemisms, and Rick Perry is confronting an unavoidable question: is he dumb - or just misunderestimated?

Doubts about Perry’s intellect have hounded him since he was first elected as a state legislator nearly three decades ago. In Austin, he’s been derided as a right-place, right-time pol who looks the part but isn’t so deep – “Gov. Goodhair.” Now, with the chatter picking back up among his enemies and taking flight in elite Republican circles, the rap threatens to follow him to the national stage.

“He’s like Bush only without the brains,” cracked one former Republican governor who knows Perry, repeating a joke that has made the rounds.

The Texan’s loyalists reject the suggestion, asserting that it owes to political bias and sour grapes, but Perry himself seems to welcome the low bar. He cracked on the campaign trail earlier this month that the difference between he and Bush was that he went to Texas A&M and the former president attended Yale.

But conversations with both Perry admirers and critics reveal a more complicated assessment about the mind of a politician who has never lost an election—and ranks as the longest-serving governor in Texas history.

Perry flew the C-130. Not a fighter pilot, but I don’t think which plane he flew for us matters much, do you? So that’s not my point...accuracy is.

“Is Rick Perry a Dope?”

We don't know yet.

If Zippo tries to snort him, well I guess he's a dope.

As far as his intelligence, I'd place my money on Perry over Zippo and day of the week.

True, it does not matter. What's important is that he served.

As far as I am concerned, if someone spent all their time in the military cleaning toilets, they are a better person than I in that respect since I did not serve.

I think you may have hit upon a pretty good response, which is to say to these people “Who are you to judge?” And, if it fits, throw the old “too judgmental” charge back at them. Also they are fans of “multiple intelligences” and getting rid of rating, judging, scoring, and of grades. So let’s put those things on the table. I think this would be a different approach.

>> Thus it will always be, since Leftists define intelligence as “being able to see that Socialism is THE WAY”. When somebody disagrees with them, they dismiss him as being “ignorant”. When that doesn’t work, they declare him evil.

Well, I must admit that I don’t give liberals the benefit of the doubt either; however I skip “ignorant” or “dumb” and start right in at “evil”. :-)

And then proceeded to flunk out of divinity school. Well, actually he withdrew, discretion being the better part of valor, (two traits he subsequently totally forgot about.)

He didn't so much flunk out as didn't care enough to put in any work at it. One way to get out of the Army early was to go to divinity school, which seemed like a great idea for Al while he was in Vietnam.

Where IS The Compleat Compedium of Obama Idiocies?.

Someone could make a serious Buck by simply publishing them all. Does anyone here have the abil-ty* to get this done?

*abil-ty. Popular Obama dropping of the "i," possibly to compensate for the overuse by the First Teleprompter of the first person personal pronoun. Related deconstructions of the '-bilty' family: 'response-bilty,' cape-bilty, conform-bilty.'

I’m not Chuck Yeager but I’m pretty sure that picture that I saw that Perry was leaning against was a Jet figher and not a C-130, so if we are going to be accurate it would work for me.

Churchill, Thatcher and Reagan were never the smartest people in the room. They were smart, and they knew enough to know Socialism is failure, they knew where they wanted to go and they were single minded in pursuit of their goals. Being the smartest person in the room only qualifies one to work FOR a great leader.

He is head & shoulders above ZERO! ! ! ! ! ! !

At least Perry hasn't had the need to rely on a teleprompter to deliver his scripted speechs. That's gotta be worth something.
