Ah for the older, more ethical, more scientific polls, even though those took weeks and would be a long time responding to the newest announced candidates.

But, well, who are we going to listen to? The MSM, or the candidates? We have only ourselves to blame if we care less about the candidates than about a few opinionmaking pundits who can engineer the kind of poll sample they want. Why is a formidable debater like Herman Cain so far down in the mud as not even to show? Why isn’t Bachmann better? I can understand why Romney looks old and tired because, well, he is.

One guess is that for all the well-founded dislike of “career politicians”, some folks are uneasy supporting someone with zero political experience for the top office. I know it’s a selling point of his and I like pretty much everything he’s said, but I think some remain uncomfortable with putting him in the WH.
