In a letter to Clinton about Hillarycare in 1993 , Perry wrote:

“I think your efforts in trying to reform the nation’s health care system are most commendable.”

“I would like to request that the task force give particular consideration to the needs of the nation’s farmers, ranchers, and agriculture workers, and other members of rural communities,” Perry continued, noting his administration’s focus on economic development for rural Texans.

“Rural populations have a high proportion of uninsured people, rising health care costs, and often experience lack of services.”

“Again, your efforts are worthy,” Perry concluded, ”and I hope you will remember this constituency as the task force progresses.”

So, do you disagree with his core message...that the effects health care changes of rural and agricultural communities need to be considered?

What do you expect at the beginning of that process? ‘Dear Hillary, your ideas suck and you suck. By the way, please take care of the farmers.”

At that stage, he praised the ‘effort’, not the content.

I think you are referring to what was vetted here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2770985/posts

It turned out to be a straw man.

Haha busted. But I think Perry is more of a big-state government guy than a federal big-government guy. That’s my impression of him anyway. I think it would be political suicide not to fight Obamacare tooth and nail at this point.
