Rick Perry has taken the lead in the Republican presidential sweepstakes, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday, but the survey also shows that the fiery Texas governor may have a tougher time against President Obama than the other leading GOP aspirant, Mitt Romney.
According the poll, Perry is preferred by Republicans over former Massachusetts Gov. Romney, 24% to 18%, similar to the findings of other major nonpartisan polls that show Perry taking over the top spot from Romney. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who has yet to declare her intentions, was at 11%, a statistical dead heat with Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann at 10% and Texas Rep. Ron Paul at 9%.

Translation: the State Run Media would like the GOP to run Romney. Perry is too conservative.

Or another translation: the state run media is SCARED of Perry, so they prefer Romney.
What a bunch of horse manure. Mitt only does as well as he does because of his lib supporters, and their all going to vote for zero.
I remember back in the last election when the MSM was claiming that McCain had the best chance against Obama.
Romney beats Obama by ten miles, while Perry beats him by only 9.8 miles. I mean, those people that want universal health care but don’t like Obama will prefer Romney, so that gives him a bit of a boost.

So, do you disagree with his core message...that the effects health care changes of rural and agricultural communities need to be considered?

At that stage, he praised the ‘effort’, not the content.
Romney has edge on 0bama, Perry has edge on Romney, Sarah Palin has edge on all of them.

I think Obama’s only hope, if Perry is the republican candidate, is to dump Biden, persuade Romney to change parties and take Romney as his VP choice.

I tuned into Leftist Talk radio this morning (the Bill Press Show) and that is exactly what they were doing. Though none in the conversation admitted liking Romney’s political views, they agreed he was the best candidate in the pack - meaning of course he is most like them.
Perry’s entrance has been impressive, but he still isn’t fully vetted yet and there is still a lot of time. Romney is beating Perry in 4 of the 6 early states, so it’s time to chill people. I think Palin is at an advantage getting in later. She’s already vetted and could swoop in with some unexpected momentum.
