I wish it were legally possible to have graveyards in orchards. Bury the bodies six feet under in fertile soil. I like the idea of growing a tree. It would sure put an end to the funeral home business.
Maybe an orchard can’t be turned into a graveyard but why not the reverse? Plant a tree on top of every grave, with vaults constructed so that the roots can easily get in.. The maintenance would go towards pruning the tree and insecticidal treatment to prevent insect damage of fruits. The fruit itself would be free to all visitors. “This peach reminds me of grandpa!” “That’s because he’s in it, honey child!”
