NY Post says former NY Gov. David Patterson is set to do a morning show on WOR AM 710, but other sources like Allen Sniffen of the NYC Radio Messageboard says Patterson will do 4-6 pm instead and "Steve Malzburg is off". Malzburg supposedly says an announcement coming on his show today.

Some reaction from NY Post comments: "worst governor ever"

WOR page:
>> page

News Talk Radio 710, WOR announced today that David Paterson, former Governor of the State of New York, will take over afternoon-drive hosting duties on the station beginning on Tuesday, September 6. The program will be heard weekdays from 4 til 6pm, and will extend the station’s successful “only local News/Talk” content and branding used in the morning on The John Gambling Show (heard weekdays from 6-10am) to the drive home.

“During his frequent stints as a fill-in host on WOR, Governor David Paterson proved to be a favorite with our listeners throughout the tri-state area,” said Jerry Crowley, Vice President and General Manager of WOR. “He was the obvious choice to be the man behind the microphone as we extend our locally-focused drive-time programming to the afternoon.”

Stupid move on the part of WOR. Malzberg was competing well against Hannity. David Paterson won’t last a year on WOR. Look what happened when Ellis Henican replaced Bob Grant, and went up against Hannity. Henican didn’t last long.

Damn! I finally got my WOR/WABC schedule settled. Malzberg on WOR is way better than Hannity harping on WABC. As soon as Rush on WABC goes off, I switch to Lou Dobbs on WOR and stay through Malzberg and Savage.

Malzberg used to be on WABC — I hope they pick him up again. LET HIM REPLACE THAT BORE JOHN BATCHELOR!

Speculation has it that Malzberg’s contract expired/wasn’t renewed. I think his show was or is syndicated (not sure what becomes of that)

from radio-info.com
>>scott 5:Late this afternoon Steve posted on his facebook page: “Hello everyone. I will be posting an announcement on my website on Thursday afternoon. You can find it at my official site, www.malzbergtalk.com . I appreciate all the emails and all of your concern. I will be able to say more on Thursday.

>>dtothej: I thought I saw a tweet somewhere teasing a major announcement from WOR related to former Governor David Paterson?

Anyway, considering Thursday - today - is September 1, my guess is that Malzberg’s contract expired and WOR is not retaining him, thereby bringing the former Governor aboard for afternoon drive.

from malzbergtalk.com:
>>Hello my dear radio family. As you may know by now, WOR Radio has decided not to renew my contract which expires in October. They have also elected not to have me finish out my contract, so I am officially done with my on-air shows on WOR. I am extremely proud of the 4 years in PM-Drive there. I could not have imagined the great success, which came very quickly. (Not entirely true, I knew we would rock!) I wish my successor David Patterson all the best. Please understand that this is not the end of the Steve Malzberg Show, just a detour on the road to a better and bigger forum for all of us.

Deals involving TV, newspaper, internet broadcasting, speaking appearances, and of course over the air radio are all being worked on as we speak. www.malzbergtalk.com is the only site where you can keep updated on where and when you can hear, see and read me. You can also e-mail me directly at malzbergtalk@gmail.com. We will compile all the e-mails and continue to send out mass mailings regarding my latest moves.

Perhaps the final nail in the coffin of a once-great radio station. Hard to believe, but when John Gambling’s father handled am drive for WOR, the station was #1 in New York City. Patterson will be the biggest bomb in talk radio since Mario Cuomo’s foray into the medium back in the 1990s.

Incidentally, the CEO of Buckley Broadcasting (which owns WOR) died earlier this week. Hard to believe that (A) He signed off on this move and (B) the Patterson flop will be his final legacy as a broadcaster.

Amen to that. Hannity is an idiot. Worst guy on radio, and a constant unbearable`shill for Karl Rove, Newt and other RINO creeps. Malzberg was just too partisan for the liberals at WOR, who have been slowly replacing anyone to the right of Nancy Pelosi for years.

Who the heck is going to listen to Patterson? Are they nuts? Maltzberg is one of the best conservative voices on radio.

Correct. Batchelor is the Renaissance Man of Radio. Absolute treasure.
