Boehner tells spineless Obama to take a hike
Kansas City . Com ^ | Yael T. Abouhalkah

Once again, President Barack Obama has looked politically spineless and clueless in backing down to House Speaker John Boehner.

For giddy Republicans, things couldn’t get any better.

For depressed Democrats, things could hardly be worse.

After Boehner taught Obama a lesson or two during the debt ceiling fiasco (“Read my lips, no new taxes, Mr. President”), the speaker basically told the president Wednesday he couldn’t talk to a joint meeting of Congress next week.

And Obama meekly agreed to postpone the speech to the next night.

This is the kind of meeting that should have been worked out in private, then publicly announced.

Instead, it appears a lazy White House thought it could get what it wanted - against all odds - from Boehner and the House.

Obama appears more inconsequential each day.

And are you counting him out for 2012.

I disagree. I think this was a mistake on his part. With the speech taking place at 7pm, not many people on the west coast are going to see/hear this. Not a lot of people will be able to watch TV at 4pm (West Coast Time).

To the totally ignorant, the president runs the white house not the House of Represeatives...Didn't he learn that at sometime during his college years.....

Looks like his followers never learned that either. Totally ignorant liberals....and dem's....

NFL fans should not mind sacrificing a little time out of the game to hear Professor Obama’s latest economic theory, right?

Actually, I'd bet a paycheck that they gave the reality absolutely no thought. They are all childish and arrogant (a really bad combination for those who "rule") and only saw the sweet irony of being able to pretend to address the debt/economy at the expense of the Repub candidates. Boehner's polite and professional response set them back on their heels because they knew that even the MSM spin on this "unprecedented denial" for the President would sound lame due to the simple to understand facts.

The fact this is coming out of an MSM newspaper tells me that the Democrats knows the polling internals for Obama are REALLY bad. Don't be surprised that we could start hearing talk of a challenger to Obama later this fall on the Democratic side.

A joint session of Congress is not an appropriate venue for what will be a run-of-the mill policy speech at best, and more likely a partisan stump speech. Obama is trying to use staging to distract from the lack of weight of his likely proposals. He’s also trying to show “leadership” by treating the Congress as vassals to be summoned at will. Boehner should have told him that joint sessions were for declarations of war, not for routine bullyragging, and politely given him the phone number of the Economic Club of Cincinnati for his jobs talk.

I do not believe that this White House understands NFL fans. Here in Wisconsin the media have already announced they will televise the pre-game show, for obvious reasons. Still, football fans across the US will want to see the pre-game show. Football fans I know want to watch football pre-game, during the game and the wrap-up. They like it better when their team is playing, but they will want to watch no matter who is playing. This is really a dumb move by Obama.

Nothing like over hyping something. Bozo has no choice but to back down. He cannot order congress to let him address them. He must request the time and wait for an invite. Unless he is invited he is to stay away from the capitol. Instead he tried one of his dictator like moves and it back fired on him.

One can wonder exactly what he chose in the first place. In earlier threads on other subjects we learned that the women made the decisions and he went along. One wonders if he really was involved or if it was Valerie and or the Wookie that induced the fiasco

Obama’s people forgot that they don’t control the House - a Republican does. They tried to impose power where they had none. LOL

Obama should be begin his speech to the NFL audience with the dictator line, “it’s time to eat your peas and do what I say. Give me more of your money NOW, or I am going to launch an American Spring on your asses - race riots!”

I agree. When they do something this dumb, it makes me think that all the dumb decisions they made the last 3 years were due to incompetance, not malevalence.
