Despite Previous Strangulations, CAIR Says Burqa Ban at Rye Playland Is Another Case of Islamophobia
The Gateway Pundit ^ | Sept. 3,2011 | Jim Hoft

Posted on 09/04/2011 7:34:24 PM PDT by YankeeReb

Last weekend Muslims furious over a head-scarf ban at Rye Playland got into a brawl with police. They were upset that burqa-clad women were banned from the rides. 15 people were arrested.

It didn’t take long for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) to call the move by the park another case of Islamophobia. The New York Post reported, via ROP:

The finger-pointing is well under way over Tuesday’s melee at Rye Playland involving Muslim holiday parkgoers incensed that they were asked to remove religious headgear on some rides.

Police were called out in force, and 15 people were arrested on charges including disorderly conduct, assault and obstruction of governmental administration.

Despite accusations that Muslims were being targeted because of their religion, it seems clear that the county-owned park’s strict policy — instituted three years ago — is broadly worded to cover all headgear on faster rides, like the Crazy Mouse roller coaster and the Dragon Coaster.

…Groups like the Council on American-Islamic Relations are now decrying what they term “this heightened state of Islamophobia.” But what seems to have occurred is a massive case of miscommunication.

Once again, CAIR is completely out of line. Muslim women are being banned from rides for their own protection. Just last year a young Muslim woman was strangled by her burqa in a go-kart accident.

This was kind of a big story on local talk radio here in the NYC area last week. Coincidentally, yesterday up in Danbury CT I saw my first burqa-clad women. I've seen the head scarfs enough and of course we've all seen the pictures from Afghanistan, but seeing it here in semi-rural CT just brought home to me how this country is becoming a foreign place to me. It didn't make me angry, more like depressed. Maybe I'm just getting old.

It should be noted that Islamists have never cared about the death of their women.

I take it were supposed to feel bad when a muzzie says we’re suffering from “islamophobia”? Sorry muzzie. I’m not the sensitive type. You’ve got me confused with a dumbass commie ‘RAT. Get out of my country!

Saw this on Fox last week.

“this heightened state of Islamophobia”

If this is heightened, I’d like to see lackadaisical.

Don’t get depressed YankeeReb. That’s what they want you to feel, helpless in your own country. BS! They come here, then try to bend our civilization to please theirs. Not happening now, not happening ever!

The SOB’s can take their burka ridden females and put them all on display as their livestock for all I care. Frankly that’s all these women are anyway, property.

Freedom of Religion, fine. Just keep it in your own home!

Morons! The first female to get her head torn off on a ride, the family would sue for millions anyway.

Screw ‘em!

If a few of the women end up like Isadora Duncan they might see things differently.

It’s pathetic when Moslems come whining and claiming Islamophobia concerning rules that have been common for years, and are definitely for safety purposes on amusement park rides and in many workplaces. It’s even more pathetic that none of our spineless, PC politicians will speak up and tell them that rules made for safely should not be waived for anyone’s cultural or religious customs.

You’re absolutely correct. I think it was more disheartening because sometimes here in the people’s republic of CT it feels like I’m the only one that finds this offensive. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve grown up around Orthodox Jews and Sikhs, no problem as far as I’m concerned. The difference is those religions are content to live and let live. They practice their religions, but don’t want to impose them on others.

It shouldn’t make you angry - it should make you FURIOUS!!!!

CAIR is an anti-western hate group.

Burquas have as much a place in America as public stonings of women.

I doubt the amusement park was asking patrons about their religion. Not a surprise where this was going.

Disapproval is not a phobia.

My disapproval of Islam is based on their satanistic religion which preaches wholesale murder and horrible punishments of innocent humans. There's not one element in phobia in ANYONE'S disapproval of that terrible cult behavior.

They are very rude. I saw my first 2 women in Albertson’s in the eighties. One shot in ahead of me. Didn’t bother me, but she turned around an motioned for her friend or mother coming down the way to get in line behind her. I didn’t budge but after a while of her yelling and insisting that since they were together the other person had a right to get in front of me. I finally said, fine, and left. I knew right then I was not going to like their kind.

Yep, and those floor length dresses or burkas some of them wear could be just as hazardous as head scarves, and even more out of style (except for the Amish and a few other religious groups).

I think that CAIR may have a point...we should insist that American amusement parks follow the exact rules displayed in the Saudi-Arabian amusement parks.

I think it is a fine idea to have all the hijabs and burkahs and dish-dash robes, including the full bee-keeper slit eye head to toe jobees, and put all that stupid islamist garb on for a muzziefest day in the park. If a few people get schlanged up in the machinery, well, maaalesh, inshallah. Stupidity is not illegal. Believe it or not, they go swimming dressed like that in Egypt, in the ocean surf.
