~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: Moody Air Force Base, Georgia

Moody Air Force Base is a United States Air Force installation located in Lowndes County and Lanier County, about 9 miles northeast of Valdosta, Georgia, United States.

Moody Air Force Base is home to the 23d Wing. The wing executes worldwide close air support, force protection, and combat search and rescue operations (CSAR) in support of humanitarian interests, United States national security and the global war on terrorism.

The base is host to one HH-60G rescue squadron and one HC-130P rescue squadron. The HC-130P flies low-level missions into hostile territory to effect rescues and to provide air refueling for rescue helicopters. The HH-60G helicopter provides combat search and rescue capability as well as fulfilling a peacetime role of search and rescue. The AT-38 squadron focuses on teaching recent pilot training graduates the fighter aircraft fundamentals. The T-6 squadron instructs pilot training students the fundamentals of flying.

The 23rd Wing is the host unit at Moody Air Force Base near Valdosta, Ga. The wing organizes, trains and employs combat-ready A-10C, HC-130P, HH-60G, pararescuemen, force protection assets and support personnel. The wing executes worldwide close air support, force protection and rescue forces to include combat search and rescue and personnel recovery in support of humanitarian interests, United States national security and worldwide contingency operations.

The wing is home to the 347th Rescue Wing, the only Combat Search and Rescue Wing in the Air Force. Their mission is to organize, train, and employ a combat-ready, HC-130, HH-60 rescue wing consisting of 3,400 military and civilian personnel. The wing supports the 479th AETC Flying Training and 820th Security Forces Groups in all operations. The 347th Rescue Wing executes worldwide peacetime and Combat Search and Rescue operations in support of humanitarian and U.S. national security interests. The wing provides logistical and base support functions for assigned personnel and over 5,000 family members.

The primary mission of the HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter is to conduct day or night combat search and rescue, or CSAR, operations into hostile environments to recover downed aircrew or other isolated personnel during war. Because of its versatility, the HH-60G is also tasked to perform military operations other than war. These tasks include civil search and rescue, emergency aeromedical evacuation, disaster relief, international aid, counterdrug activities and NASA space shuttle support.

Aloha Little Devil; Steely eyed Downeaster, Guardian of Our Troops!

Thunder and lightning is all I've heard coming from the Northeast lately.....that and flooding too. Let's hope it clears up for your vacation.....but are you headed off to Texas?

Aloha Sweetness!
*LITTLE DEVIL HUG*
There’s been alot of rain up here for sure.
Some of the thunderstorms yesterday, did more damage than Irene when it blasted through.

I am heading for Texas in October, that’s coming up fast!

A problem with florabunda roses? Sounds serious. When I was a kid, dairy farmers complained about wild blackberry and wild raspberry and sent us out to take care of the problems along the fence line. Checking back in with blue teeth and scratches got pay.

What do bath salts have to do with anything.

BTW, we checked out the damage at the apartment house today.
Had the police come and do a report, too.
The people that broke in ruined the doorjambs, upstairs and down, but there was no other major damage.

Bath salts are the new pcp.

Mislabeled to fly under the radar.

The roses bite about like a black berry.

Hi, Kathy! It wasn’t bad. We had some strange transactions that really kept our attention focused away from the clock. LOL!

We were wondering if it was a full moon or something. :)
