The incredible shrinking Obama
Politico ^ | September 7, 2011 | By: Glenn Thrush and Carrie Budoff Brown

The once-muscular presidency of Barack Obama has undergone a dramatic downsizing – in power, popularity, prestige and ambition – to the point where even Obama die-hards are starting to question his ability to right the economy or win reelection.

Three polls in a single day Tuesday all told the same sorry tale – the avatar of hope and change, the slayer of Osama bin Laden, the president with dreams of a billion-dollar reelection campaign - is losing popular support and bleeding political power fifteen months ahead Election Day.

“He has sort of lost the sense of power and mystique of the presidency,” says longtime Obama ally Andy Stern, former president of the powerful Service Employees International Union. “There’s also a sense that people aren’t scared of him. That’s very dangerous.”

Obama’s allies say he’s been through the fire before and will emerge stronger once the contrast between his jobs policies and those of the Republican field become clearer.

“They were using the ‘Incredible Shrinking President’ thing against Bill Clinton too, and what did he do? Win re-election by a landslide,” said Neera Tanden, chief operating officer with the liberal Center for American Progress.

They're going to bump him off and blame it on the Tea Party.

That's the only way the Left can win the Presidency now. So that is what they will do. The Big Fix.

Obama becomes a martyr: portrayed by the media as too good for this ungrateful earth, and Lady Macbeth takes over.

The markets will jump 15% the day Barky is voted out of office and another 20% the day he is removed from office in Jan. 2013. The overall economy will grow 6.2% in 2013!

I wasn’t scared of Bush, Reagan, or even Clinton. Respect for the office, but not fear. If you think the American people should be afraid of their leaders...then you have a very dangerous situation on your hands.

And if one considers the massive gun sales over the last few years...I reckon’ we are afraid of him and his regime. And that makes us armed and dangerous....

Afraid of his policies
Afraid of losing our freedom
Afraid for the collapse of civil America...

“For some, Obama’s slide has brought to mind the infamous 1992 Time cover on “The Incredible Shrinking President” that described the political death spiral of President George H. W. Bush”

But Bush is a Republican. Do we get to hold our breath waiting for a cover of Time lampooning Obama in such a way? Not a chance. Perhaps there will be a cover depicting Obama trying to be saved as one last, desperate hope...

"They were using the ‘Incredible Shrinking President’ thing against Bill Clinton too, and what did he do? Win re-election by a landslide,”

Since when is 49% against a weak GOP candidate with Ross Perot siphoning off 20% of the GOP vote considered a "landslide"? Clinton had a Republican congress for 6 of his 8 years holding him in check for most of his term, and balancing the budget. Slick willie lucked out with the tech bubble to save his 'legacy'. The idiot who made this statement must have confused 49 'percent' with 49 'states'.

The higher they climb, the harder they fall.

This blowhard campaigned like he was some sort of rock star. It was nauseating then and it’s STILL nauseating whenever any of these pols rig coverage like that.

I’m ready to get back to presidents who aren’t rock stars. Who are just presidents. Regular guys and gals. Someone who makes the presidency about the country, not about him or her.

The “muscular presidency” is a myth perpetuated by a complicit media from even before the 2008 election. This dude’s entire narrative is a fraud from start to finish, and the 2012 election will place decisively the capstone on the scam perpetrated on the American citizenry by this grifter and his enablers. The voters are on to you, BarrySoetoroSoebarkahHusseinWhatevertheheckyournameis.

Jimmy Hoffa had better get a clue: The loosely affiliated Tea Party members will not go quietly into that good night, and if you believe that you can turn union-generated violence to your advantage, you’ve got another think coming. We won’t start anything, but if union thugs or other rabble-rousers physically attack otherwise law-abiding citizens, we will defend ourselves. Watch it, Alinsky-ites. You may very well find off that you’ve bitten off way, way more than you can chew.

Once someone in the media makes a connection between his class-war rhetoric and the crime-wave in Chicago and the uptick in violence against whites across the country, he’ll either have to stop using it, or continue to be blamed for provoking violence. He’ll be finished.

That visual of him in the command center during the Osama takedown was detrimental. It was so obvious that he was not in control.

(The once-muscular presidency of Barack Obama has undergone a dramatic downsizing – in power, popularity, prestige and ambition –)

HUH?
It never existed..
Obama was all smoke and no substance from the beginning. The media played him up to be something he was not and could never be.

Obama has followed the trajectory of many affirmative action managers. He could only hide his incompetence so long...

Factor in frustrated, disillusioned, and angry, liberals becoming unhinged as they witness the Obama meltdown---and the complete failure of their "whacked-out progressive agenda."

Outraged Dems saw Obama cave to Republicans on the debt deal, taxing the rich, smog regulations, and, embarrassingly, to Speaker Boehner WRT scheduling his speech to Congress.

LAUGH BREAK MSNBC’s Matt Miller offered a list of synonyms for cave: “Buckle, fold, concede, bend, defer, submit, give in, knuckle under, kowtow, surrender, yield, comply, capitulate.”

ROTFL----all of them describe O to a tee.

When the generally-Left leaning Politico web site criticizes Obama like this, you KNOW the Democratic National Committee polling internals show the President is officially this:
