More Republicans skipping Obama’s jobs speech
YahooNews ^ | Sept. 7, 2011 | Chris Moody

When President Obama delivers his address on a new job-creation plan to a joint session of Congress on Thursday, he won't be speaking to a sold-out crowd. Several lawmakers are still determining whether it is worth their time to stay in Washington to hear the president, and some are already planning to skip it.

Louisiana Republican Sen. David Vitter is the latest to announce that he will not be there, choosing to attend a party to watch the New Orleans Saints' opening football game instead.

"As a fanatic, I have my priorities," Vitter told Fox News on Wednesday.

Can’t watch it, have a date with Monica Lewinsky.

Come back and give us a blow-by-blow description.

Come Friday morning, the Republicans should be all over the media, TV, radio, papers, blogs, forums repeating this:

"The unemployed of this country waited through 10 days of Obama's taxpayer-funded, multi-million dollar vacation and another week of trial balloons by the Obama Administration for THIS speech?"

"How many homes were foreclosed during that time?"

"How many family vacations were canceled out of financial uncertainty during that time?"

"How many people lost their jobs during that time?"

“Where did maturity go”

You are absolutely right. How mature is it for someone to hang out with a hand picked thug doing your bidding that says to “take them sons of bitches out”? More than one can play that game and hussein has not earned a single shred of respect. I would suggest that them members in attendance stand and turn their backs on this presidential poser.

Why don’t we just dissolve the government?

hyperbole. Well, there's maturity for ya...
My tagline used to be, all that is necessary for evil to succeed, is that good men do nothing. Like assembling obediently like good gentlemen and according this empty suit some facade of dignity from which he can trash them and me and mine. Just because he is "the president for now" does not mean the other two branches of our government have to be accomplices in his grandstanding, or to assemble on his demand to sit passively and afford credibility to his ideological disaster for America. Judge Samuel Alito "got it" after Barry Soetero trashed the USSC at the last SOTU. Never again.

But he’s still the president. And didn’t Bush bow to the same guy?

You should change your tagline to: “All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that the congress and senate convene in a Joint Session.” That’ll show them!

C’mon Joe, I am just being a bit overly cynical. :)
However, could you not imagine someone rather watching Championship Bridge (with the slo-mo) rather than a Hussein Obama speech? I could!!!!

No. He did not. If you say he did, show me the picture. I'm not talking diplomacy, I'm talking BOWING DOWN to a foreign leader, showing your belly like a low-dog.

No President has EVER put themselves in a subservient position - except bambi.

Can't watch it, promised my pen pal in Kathmandu that I'd listen to Freddie and the Dreamers' first LP.

(We're planning to climb Mount Everest together this winter and this is part of our preparation.)

I think I’m goin’ to Kathmandu
I think it’s really where I’m goin’ to
Hey, if I ever get out of here
That what I’m gonna do

K-k-k-k-k-k-Kathmandu
I think it’s really where I’m goin’ to
Hey, if I ever get out of here
I’m goin’ to Kathmandu

I got no kick against the west coast
Where all the brothers are such good hosts
I raise my whiskey glass, give ‘em a toast
I’m sure they know it’s true

I got no rap against southern states
Every time I been there it’s been great
But now I’m leaving and I can’t be late
And to myself be true

That’s why I’m goin’ to Kathmandu
Really, really, really goin’, too
Hey if I ever get out of here
That’s what I’m gonna do

Whoa, Kathmandu
Take me with you, ‘cause I’m goin’ with you
Now, if I ever get out of here
I’m goin’ to Kathmandu

I got no quarrel with the Midwest
The folks out there have given me their best
I’ve lived there all my life, I’ve been their guest
I sure have loved it, too

I’m tired of looking at the TV news
I’m tired of drivin’ hard and payin’ dues
I figure, baby, I got nothin’ to lose
I’m tired of bein’ blue

That’s why I’m goin’ to Kathmandu
Up to the mountains where I’m going to
If I ever get out of here
That’s what I’m gonna do

K-k-k-k-k-k-Kathmandu.
Really, really, really goin’, too
If I ever get out of here
I’m goin’ to Kathmandu

I ain’t got nothin’ ‘gainst the east coast
You want some people, well they got the most
New York City’s like a friendly old ghost
You seem to cruise right through

I know I’m gonna miss the USA
I guess I’ll miss it every single day
But no one loves me here any way
I know my plane is due

The one that’s goin’ to Kathmandu
Really, really goin’, too
Hey, if I ever get out of here
That’s what I’m gonna do, gonna do

Kathmandu
Take me with you, ‘cause I’m goin’ with you
Now, if I ever get out of here
If I ever get out of here
If I ever get out of here
I’m goin’ to Kathmandu

Is that the Saudi king?

I think that Bush has kissed him and bowed.

I don’t understand, though, really why a photo of Obama bowing is relevant on a thread about Obama’s jobs speech.

There’s a lot of hate for Obama ... and I guess I’m the only one willing to disagree here on this thread...

So ... get upset at me if you want to ... but I disagree. I think these people should attend the speech.
