It was the send-off he would have wanted - but one which will strike a chill through a country still recovering from the devastating riots which turned British streets into no-go areas.
Mark Duggan, the man whose shooting in Tottenham, north London, sparked the first disturbances which would lead to widespread violence and looting around the country, was laid to rest today.
And as his body was ferried to his funeral in a horse-drawn carriage, mourners lined the streets to pay their gang-style respects - arms outstretched in salute to 'a fallen soldier'.

Businesses which had lasted for generations were burned to the ground, one woman had to leap from a first-floor flat to escape an inferno that engulfed her home and people were attacked and mugged in the street.
Shops were looted, cars torched and police and police dogs were attacked by groups intent on wreaking havoc through England's cities.
Today police gathered in Alexandra Palace, close to Tottenham and Wood Green, in what appears to be a precaution should any violence flare after the service
But the scenes of violence from the riots were a far cry from the respectful procession that filed through North London streets today.

He was a criminal, and he is idolized by the surviving ‘up-and-coming’ soon to be criminals/criminals.
Britain’s gang bangers do have this irritating tendency to refer to themselves as ‘soldiers’ or ‘souljas’, for some reason...

It takes much more than that to pull over a cab here.
Then, he'd gone to wherever it was he was going, hatched his plot, taken his revenge, and it'd been just another night in North London.
The way to keep things like this from getting out of hand is simple ~ ARM THE PEOPLE.
They'll all be more polite.
It's pretty clear the UK's "disarm 'em all" approach to life isn't working at all.
Small, easily identifiable minorities (in the tribal sense) who live in urban slums are foolish to declare war on the rest of their world.
Yeah, that use of the word “soldier” is irritating. But I notice that they are giving the Nazi salute to their dead comrade, and they definitely have declared war on civilization.
The Brits had better wake up to the destruction of their culture.
