I didn’t like the EO.

But I knew that Perry always said the final decision was with the parents. In fact, in 2003 he listened to parents concerns about vaccines causing autism and he made it easier for parents to opt out of any vaccine.

And if people think vaccines are really mandatory, some may be in for a shock. The anti-vaccine campaign has worked very well. Two of my grandkids have NEVER had a vaccine of any kind here in Texas and have attended both public and a private school. I called the public schools and the private school both to find answers. In both schools, they said the parents had the final decision - all they had to do was sign a form to opt out and they were allowed to attend both schools. I was actually surprised.

My grandkids were opted out even before Perry, in 2003, made it even easier for kids to opt out of vaccines. He was listening to the concerns of parents in regard to the fear of autism being caused by vaccines, and said the parents should have the final say on vaccines.

I didn’t like the EO, but I did not get hysterical over it as I knew in the end, the parents would have the final say here in Texas. And Perry has ALWAYS said that.

I think they call some vaccines “mandatory” so insurance will pay for them.

And, just as a side note. I have an adopted grandchild who was the product of rape. This child’s 12-year-old mother was raped by her father. Some kids sadly are not given the choice of when to engage in sex for the first time.

There have never been any vaccine police show up to force ANY vaccine on my grandkids, and no child was ever vaccinated with Gardisil under Perry’s EO. The legislature killed it and I’m glad they did. And I’m glad Perry admitted he made a mistake.

It’s been 5 years and he’s never done anything like that again.

Yet still lies and hysteria continue.

Your post is interesting. I’ve had several vaccines for various things, incluing some for overseas work/exposure. Makes me wonder what’s in all that stuff. Maybe I’ve paid for some of it healthwise. Who knows?

“I think they call some vaccines “mandatory” so insurance will pay for them.”

That is correct. little-stated fact is that the Federal govt put gardasil on their vaccine list forcing states like Texas to have it in their programs. This is why it came up as an issue in the first place. its why several states started mandating it,

I too think Perry made a mistake but its no big deal.

All the people bent out of shape over this are not at all noticing that medicaid taxpayer dollars have been paying for this vaccine for years.
