A Labor Chief As Clueless As The President
Townhall.com ^ | September 13, 2011 | RALPH R. REILAND

On Aug. 31, with job creation grinding to a complete halt, U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis was asked this question: "Why do you think there have been so many jobs created in the last decade in Texas?"

She laughed and said, "Come again."

The questioner rephrased his query, adding a citation: "The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas estimates about half of the jobs created in the U.S. in the last decade have been created in Texas. Why do you think that is?"

Replied Solis, "I haven't done a lot of research in terms of the economic growth in Texas."

It appears that Labor Secretary Solis had no interest in looking at how a state with 8% of the nation's population had created nearly half of the nation's new jobs over the past 10 years.

That interchange occurred on the final day of a month in which the United States experienced zero net job growth — the first time that's happened in the U.S. since 1945.

Extending her reply about not doing much research on job growth in Texas, Solis added, "I do know that they have different, ah, scales of pay."

Everyone, of course, has "different scales of pay," even the old commies in Cuba.

"Um, it's a right-to-work state, I know that," continued Solis, sounding more like a struggling student than a U.S. labor secretary.

"We're also aware that the oil industry has done very well in this recession and those jobs continue to increase," said Solis, "and that's another area that continues to grow during this recession."

With this and her other comments, she has proven that she's an economically illiterate as her boss.

2012 can't come soon enough!

What she should have said is, “Barack Obama deserves all the credit because he flooded the State of Texas with illegal aliens who have depressed the wages employers must pay.”

But in that regard, she would be only half right. Bush did a lot as well.

Brilliance from the affirmative action public sector Union parasite.

They’re saying that the median income in Texas is only $33,000 compared to $50,000 other places. I used one of those salary adjustment calculaters in CNNMoney.com; if you made $50,000 in Oakland, CA you would have to make $33,000 to have the same lifestyle in Dallas. It lists how much costs are more in CA. Don’t know if it considered on income tax in Texas.

Solis is so unprepared for this job because she's trained all her life to become a commandant in a death camp for political undesirables.

The campaign headquarters in Chicago should have realized she's a bit ahead of herself and her services aren't yet needed.

First, Texas has no state income tax. Second, cities like Dallas, Austin and Houston are pricey. Oakland has pricey real estate, but the income level and median income is lower. Denver has ALWAYS been a pricy place to live and I lived there in the 70s.

The median income figure being touted for Texas might be only for a city like San Antonio or El Paso, but not Texas as a whole.

Yeah...it's not like you're the Labor Secretary or something. Good grief, liberals are so lazy.

Correction Solis is a hard core communist with roots in the Progressive Caucus in the House Of Representatives, and long time membership in Democratic Socialists of America.

Is there any wonder why Obama’s administration is a failure? His appointees are all of the same vein......
