WASHINGTON (AP) — White House officials discussed the political ramifications of a possible default by a troubled solar energy company that received more than $500 million in federal loans, newly released emails show. Emails released Thursday night show that Obama administration privately worried about the effect of a default by Solyndra Inc. on the president's re-election campaign. "The optics of a Solyndra default will be bad," an official from the Office of Management and Budget wrote in a Jan. 31 email to a senior OMB official. "The timing will likely coincide with the 2012 campaign season heating up." The email, released by the House Energy and Commerce Committee as part of its investigation into the Solyndra loan, showed that Obama administration officials were concerned about Solyndra's financial health even as they publicly declared the solar panel maker in good shape.

Everything he touches is SUPPOSED to fail.

It's all about overwhelming the system.

These stinking turds never stopped to think about the fact that a default by Solyndra would be bad for THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

No, their only concern was for how it might affect Obama's chances of re-election. Damn these people! I want them GONE!

Mark Levin had a Solyndra employee on last week. She said they were all but dead and ready to shutter the place because the Chinese undercut them. She said all of sudden Obama Cash came flowing in for no reason and they went hog wild spending even though everyone in the place new it was a waste. There was no way to save the company.

When is congress going to get these inside people up for televised hearings? This scandal is far deeper and more corrupt than anyone knows.

It is worse than portrayed. One key issue is why the government allowed a hedge fund to slip in ahead of it the order of precedence in bankruptcy. Not only is it unusual for a lender to reduce its standing in case of bankruptcy, in the case of grants or loans from the DOE, it is against the law...the government should always be in first priority according to the law.

Some things reek but his one stinks beyond hell and someone should be in an orange jump suit and another back selling pencils on a corner in Chicago when they get to the bottom of this.

Gee, 9 months in to the new Congress after the lard ass Dems were beaten and we have more scandals surface than investigators to look at them. The key ones right now are Solynda; Fast and Furious; and Light Squared about undue influence to force an army general to change his factual report.

How does a small to med. size company default after a half billion dollar loan less than two years earlier?

It was inevitable as it it crap technology, but I suspect it all came down a lot sooner by Bambi's direction. Better now than next year during the heat of the election. Not that it matters, he is so toast.

Please Dear God, slap someone. The sun does not shine at night.

Wind generation does not like it when the wind does not blow or when it is too hot or when it is too cold or if there is freezing rain. OOps, they do not like it when it blows to much. The three little bears of generation.

I like my electricity. I don’t the “chosen one” wants my PC or the economy to run.

Someone exposed committing a Hatch Act violation? Sounds like it to me.
