Greenland glaciers have had a hard time of it lately, what with all the warming and disintegrating, and in their latest edition, the folks at the Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World have decided to illustrate the islands new look: as you can see above, lots and lots less white. The warming has even created a new island off the east coast: look closely just under the Gr in Greenland Sea, and you can see the words Uunartoq Qeqertoq (Warming I.)

If the Times changes the color then the argument is obviously over. Al Gore wins!
How long before the ice sheet recedes to the point it was at during the time of the Viking explorers?
I wonder why they ever named Whiteland “Greenland” in the first place. Now it looks like it should be called Brownland.
Help me out here, I see no difference in the left and right map in that spot.
I don’t think I ever looked at an Atlas for the colours
It’s multiplying.
OH NOES WERE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!!
Nice! I am sure the Greenlanders are for globull warming just like us Alaskans!
Great point. I hope I'm still around because there is no telling what will be revealed once the ice is gone. I love history and those kind of finds are awesome.
make sure to say “... at current rates of change” -
The whole point is - no one can reliably FORWARD predict these things.
In technical terms - we have “A ways to go” to get that far.
In fact - our current “rate of change” is negative. So - at the current rate of change - never. We are cooling - not warming - the last decade.
When you see decent British wine in the store - then we are there.

Actually, that would be Viking settlers
That is to say, recedes to the normal level from the anomalous cold of the present.
What? Have the Vikings moved back and started farming again?
How come nobody told me!
Could it possibly be that the reason it was Greenland and not “Iceland” because a few hundred years ago it actually was ‘green.’? Looks like those medieval people were responsible for ‘global cooling.’
Just like it was in Viking times.
Coincidentally, Obama and Pelosi are turning the map of the USA more red.
Is this the same island that is called Jan Meyan on the google maps?
A rename to get AGW in?
Shatters my dream of moving to Greenland and growing Popsicles.
Actually, we have a long way to go yet to get up to those temperatures! Imagine Vineyards in Greenland!
Let me know when the Greenlanders are raising cattle again and when they are going to Labrador for grapes like they did in the now conveniently forgotten “Medieval Warm Period.”
