CBS/AP) CINCINNATI — A tea party activist is challenging U.S. House Speaker John Boehner in the 2012 Republican primary.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that David Lewis announced his candidacy on Friday.
Lewis, 26, is the father of a 2-year-old girl, and says he plans to run on a single issue — Boehner's support of a federal budget that includes funding for Planned Parenthood, which he calls "the largest killer of unborn babies in America."

As an extra bonus, that got the left so incensed with Obama that they are now discussing possible primary candidates.
Boehner is walking the talk as much as possible, but he will not get the full agenda done until he has more than 1/3 of the legislative process belonging to the right.

Boehner has done some GOOD things. I am not always convinced that he does a GOOD thing because it is his philosophy or because his party members might revolt.
So, John Boehner has a ‘natural’ tan? Well, that changes everything. Not.
Even if Boehner wins the primary challenge against him he should be replaced as Speaker. He has been a nightmare. If ever there has been a need for a strong bold Speaker the time is now.
There are a couple of votes which conservatives take issue with, but the vast majority of his votes have been straight up conservative. He has taken NO pork spending, which is extremely rare and one of the reasons he was chosen as Speaker. Another reason is that he's faithful to the people he works with in the House and the GOP caucus knows this.
This guy is far better than FR knows. Another of his good qualities is that he's extremely patient, and willing to take the temporary hits in order to see conservative values happen over the long haul.

Boehner does great work. He does NOT support abortion funding, of that I am sure.
It’s a good thing for Boehner and for the country to have this fellow challenge him, and I am all for it, but because the PRIMARY is where Republican divisions should be adjudicated, and because Boehner will look to much of the electorate as more centrist as a result of this challenge.
I love the Tea Party even though I am not on board with every aspect of the movement. I fear that this is not good for them. People like to portray Tea Partiers as extremist. This gives them more ammunition.
It’s not that this challenger has picked this issue, so pls don’t flame me for that. It’s that he has no interest whatsoever in any of the other hundreds or thousands of major problems that our current president has saddle us with.
Check it out...I’m from around here. The young man who wants to run against Boehner does not even live in Boehner’s district. He lives in Jean Schmidt’s district.

I noted, in my first post on this thread, that Lewis does not live in the district. You can also view my other posts on this thread by clicking on my FR name but I’m sure you know that already.
Other than the fact that it is proof of a Republican majority in the House, I have never been that thrilled with Boehner’s ascension to the Speakership.
I think it is excellent that he is being challenged for his seat and I hope this guy makes him sweat for it.

I think this is spot-on. The Left is trying very hard to paint the TEA Party as “religious extremists”.

Newsflash: I’ve been a part of the FR community for a hell of a lot longer than you, and I’m well respected around this board if I can be so bold.
I may not be right all the time, but I sure as hell am not a liberal, and anyone who says I am doesn’t know me.
If you want to pick apart my argument on the particulars, let’s hear your reasons. But the name-calling is not an argument, it is a childish response to what ought to be reasonable discussion.
That’s a stupid point because Randall Terry has zero chance of winning an election anywhere.
I don’t think it’s a good idea to have pure ideologues in the top spot at all. They don’t make good leaders and often fail to govern.
Let me get this straight:
I post a 200-word comment relating to John Boehner being challenged for his long-held congressional seat and include a lot of other observations in it. Then, at the very end, I make a sardonic 2-word comment about Boehner being "well-tanned" (the prevailing observation) and this is all you can comment on? Yet you absurdly call Boehner's supposed tan "my obsession". Pot, meet kettle. Now, say goodbye.
