I bet if they had insulted President Bush that would not have been a problem

To: Berlin_Freeper
This is a misleading article. The object that was removed was the word "F*CK". When you use profanity to express an idea - you are not conveying an idea, but are creating at atmosphere of obscentity. A professor protested to the "F..k Obama" note someone wrote; and removed the offending topic. This being a college wall, full of the maturity and social conduct typical for many college-age kids - this word was used repeatedly. As this is a misdemor, each incidence of this word had to be removed - and rather than remove every incident; the students removed the "Free Speech" wall.
To call this a case where you cannot insult the President, is a lie. You cannot publically display profanity.

Maybe the professor was trying to make that exact point. Pretending to only being offended by the slur on Obama. I read the whole article, and learned a little case law.

in some parts of the world, insulting those who govern earns you swift punishment, or at least official censorship. That isnt the case in America

No doubt some prog troll has already sent a photo series of the wall to the President’s “AttackWatch” website !
BTW, perhaps students ought to try linking circumcision of their 1st amdenment rights to professors’ tenure ! Now that ought to keep the “ivory tower idiots” busy and out of mischief ! >PS

Perry should see about withdrawing State support from the university, until such time that they rectify and apologize for their mistake.

It’s a school of higher learning. The only debate they are open to the degree corporations are killing the earth (Very quickly or super quickly) or how badly are republicans killing our country (really badly or extremely badly)

The police told the students that since Prof. Kirk was offended by some profanity on the wall, the students were engaging in disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, and had to cover up all the swear words on the wall or take it down. Realizing that this would make a mockery out of the purpose of a free speech wall, the students simply disassembled the wall. This is one of those "Question Authority" times. A professor being offended equates to disorderly conduct? I think not. The students allowed a mockery to be made of their project.
