Chris Christie Reconsidering 2012 Run, Will Decide in Days
Newsmax via Drudge ^

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is reconsidering his decision not to enter the 2012 presidential race — and he says he will let top Republican donors know within days about his plans, Newsmax has learned. During the past few weeks, several leading Republican donors and fundraisers have been urging the popular Republican governor to reconsider his decision not to run and to enter the GOP primary. These Christie supporters note that significant GOP support has remained on the sidelines of the primary fight. Many leading fundraisers have yet to commit to any current primary contender, including frontrunners Rick Perry and Mitt Romney. Newsmax has learned that the effort to draft Christie culminated in a hush-hush powwow held in the past week with Christie and several notable Republican billionaires.

The House and Senate are why I’m not worried about a Romney presidency. We all know that Romney will go where the prevailing winds take him. If he wins big, it also means a lot of very conservative candidates down ballot also win. Paul Ryan and Jim DeMint will set the agenda as will the conservative governors.

"Not really interested in a Christie candidacy, but Romney must be dreading this."

I don't want Rombot to be President, so, yeah.

“If he wins big, it also means a lot of very conservative candidates down ballot also win.”

I don’t think we should automatically assume that.

"Also, Electoral College-wise, Christie would be as weak (or weaker than McCain). IN, NC, and VA go back to serious play, and MO, MT, snd Omaha CD become in doubt also."

Not IN. Not even close. IN resumes GOP streak dating back nearly half a century.

To make it worse, Mitch (who would unfortunately be a VP consideration under Christie) will cozy up to Christie and (possibly together) cruise by 7% over Bobo.

"Sure. President Taft."

You know, isn't it the case that a sizable minority in Presidential history were overweight? Certainly the Adams, then Fillmore, Buchanan, Grant, Garfield, Arthur, Taft, Cleveland, Teddy, Bubba...And then there are a bunch more who were paunchy -- Washington, Harding, Ike, Johnson, Ford, Nixon...that's over 40%...

"And since according to Rush, Bill just torpedoed a lot of Obama's PR initiatives, it could be they're trying to soften up the ground for a Hillary run."

By appearances for sure, but she won't -- I think it's good old-fashioned grudge work at play here stemming from back when Bobo called Bubba a racist in the run-up to that So. Carolina primary.

Bubba has not only given cover to anyone who opposes Bobo's job bill, but also Bubba crushed Bobo's raison d'etre for his 2012 re-election campaign.

Wishful thinking. 2008 shows what happens when you run a “moderate”.

Christie supports Global Warming propoganda, Sharia Law in US Courts, and is even more lackluster on social issues than John McCain was.

VA would be gone. He get blown out in the same counties McCain did (Loudon, Chesapeake, etc) and would not do as well as need be in SW VA. VA doesn’t take too kind to running moderates.

NC would be uphill as well for the same reason.

FL would be an outright disaster. Rubio would not save him anymore than Palin could not save McCain. The I-4 corridor would be lost and with it, the state.

MO would be another nail-biter.

MT would be in serious jeopardy.

In a close race where a group of people (Conservatives, Tea Party) would be very unhappy with a candidate like Christie, don’t underestimate his weakness or lack of support. IN would be close enough for Lake County to try their “magic”.

This isn’t even to mention that Christie is an even weaker candidate in the South/Midwest than even Romney.

Christie is an electoral disaster waiting to happen.

"Wishful thinking. 2008 shows what happens when you run a “moderate”.Dole -- a more moderate candidate than McCain -- won Indiana over a unpopular sitting President by 5.5%, and would have won by more save Perot took 10.5%.

Electoral history doesn't back your assertions. Your analysis treats 2008 as the rule, rather than what it was -- the exception -- a Perfect Storm against the GOP, not to be repeated in 50 years or longer.

Great question....a lot of things have changed here at FreeRepublic lately. It’s too bad, honestly.

I remember the days when folks were outing the media for the Bush Vietnam memos. It was awesome, exposing liberals at every turn. Now if you dare to say you would vote for someone like Romney if it was him vs Obama, you’re threatened as a zot. Bizarre behavior.

Patriots believe 'nothing is impossible with God'. They do what needs to be done and leaves the rest to God - "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Our sin could be not seeking Him all along while others grabbed the power.

This country is/was the greatest because it was formed under God principles. If our former Patriots didn't abide by that and declare our God given rights, well, then, we'd be a godless nation where one would rely solely on themselves and where the ones with the most (power/money) win to control others (dictatorship) as they decide who will run. They fear WeThePeople for we stand up for the Law of this great land, Our Constitution and not bow to the concept of 'under money'. For we know where the true power is - God who can stretch a dime into a dollar and can feed thousands with 5 loaves and 2 fishes and have more left over than what they began with. Nothing is impossible for those who believe.

Every candidate is flawed. Instead of attacking each other and giving Hussein Obama fodder for his own ads, they should be attacking the Muslim Marxist non-stop.

Agreed.

If they loved country more than their own selves and could see past winning the party’s nomination, they would agree to try and top each other by condemning Obama’s policies, rather than by slitting each other’s throats.

That’s a good place for you and your shameful behavior. But as a retread, you certainly shown - right out of the gate - how ‘comfortable’ you are trashing conservative freepers with your conservative mask on. Posts, like the sound of a voice, are unique. I recognize your voice.
