Sarah Palin: Being president could ‘shackle’ me
Yahoo News, The Ticket ^ | 9/28/2011 | Rachel Rose Hartman

Sarah Palin certainly didn't sound interested in running for president last night.

"Is a title worth it-- does a title shackle a person?" the former Alaska governor asked during a discussion of her 2012 plans with Fox News' Greta Van Susteren. "Someone like me, who's maverick--you know I do 'go rogue' and I call it like I see it and I don't mind stirring it up ... [for] somebody like me, is a title and is a campaign too shackling?"

"Does a title take away my freedom to call it like I see it and to effect positive change that we need in this country? That's the biggest contemplation piece in my [decision] process," Palin said.

Palin said Tuesday that time is running out. Filing deadlines, requiring candidates to register to appear on state presidential primary ballots, are approaching in several states.

You can LOL all you want - Sarah Palin will not be the next President of the United States.

And by the way, your manners are deplorable. I did vote in 2010 and every year, every election since I was 18.

I don't crawl in my life. I don't live under a rock. I am a proud American with a strong moral compass and conservative values. I will always stand strong for what I believe in. Sorry, I am not on the same page as you and other who would rather throw flames than let others express their opinions.

By the way, have you donated to FR lately? I have!!

I have to admit, I don’t wait very well either but I realize that is my problem, not Palin’s.

For me, what she’s doing only comes down to two options. Either she is a completely thoughtless @ss who’s only in it for herself and doesn’t care about leading her supporters on - OR - she’s running and implementing a strategy. I don’t know her personally, of course, but I’ve never seen anything during her public appearances that leads me to believe she’s the kind of heartless person who would treat her supporters with disdain. In fact, all I’ve ever read from anyone who’s met her is that she is a very warm caring person.

That, along with the fact that none of her actions regarding other candidates makes any sense if she’s not running, convinces me that she is. If she had decided not to run, I can’t think of any conceivable reason not to tell us that. Either way, I think we’ll know before the end of October. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have anything terribly pressing to do on the election front for the next few weeks.

You’re a better person than me, Finny. I get tired of reading the same talking points, lies and distortions over and over again. To me it seems fruitless to argue with them because it doesn’t matter how many times you prove them wrong, they just move on to the next thread and start the same talking points, lies and distortions all over again. They are intellectually dishonest people who’s only purpose in life seems to be to trash the best potential conservative candidate we’ve had since Reagan.

I don't recall Newt doing this dance of the seven veils.

Kinda wish he had done the dance. We then may have had a shot at him instead of McCain in 08. As long as there are non-establishment candidates moving ahead, she should dance so as to be able to throw her hat in if needed. If she declares now NOT to run, and then all of the anti-establishments drop out...then we're right back to 08 again.

Horsepucky. I'm a different person than you. Older, maybe, or maybe more patient in this particular area, but in no way "better." You're fine the way you are, IMO.

Yes, they will always move on to the next thread. I'm not writing to or for them, I'm writing to and for folks who read FR. I think probably a lot of the folks here are lurkers who rarely if ever post, but come to FR to eavesdrop on political conversations. For some of them, it's the first time they see the lies and distortions, and if those lies and distortions go unexposed, they'll think there was no legit response. When those who can answer the lies with truth, readers have info to process.

The folks with the talking points and lies and distortions move to a new thread. New readers see them for the first time -- and those who aren't so new see them posting the same old lies and distortions, and start to understand what's really going on.

Debating and responding to the talking points Palin detractors is like weeding a garden. You don't weed the garden once and have done with it. It's a constant thing of diligence -- it's just the way it is. Kind of like freedom -- it isn't free. It takes constant defending.

I think your attitude fits well with how Palin herself handles derogatory remarks, lies, and most recently her lawsuit on that book. An attitude that fits well with someone who knew first-hand of what it means to be quiet. (And no - not George Bush! One of his faults IMHO.)

I haven’t seen her do anything for anyone else in the Party other than criticize from the sideline

Only an idiot who was living under a rock through the 2010 election cycle would say such a stupid thing.

If you get the wits or the courage to defend that remark, or the humility to admit to it’s stupidity, please let us know.

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. You're definitely more patient than me.

LOL, you want to talk about manners!! You are a guest at a site where the site owner supports Sarah Palin, and you think it's honest discussion to lie, such as your first line.

———————————>

Can someone tell me if I don't support Sarah Palin am I banned from this site?

I do make contributions to FR.

I didn't realize that I had to agree with Jim Robinson's political endorsements.

Where can I find a list of the rules for the Free Republic site?

Thank you and I apologize if I have broken the rules and I will no longer post.
