Earlier today, The Washington Post reported on a hunting camp connected to presidential candidate Rick Perry bearing in its title a racial slur. On This Week earlier, fellow candidate Herman Cain reacted negatively to the news, criticizing Perry for going there so frequently.
Christiane Amanpour reviewed the details of the camp with Cain, and while pointing out that the word in question may have been painted out, she asked the African-American candidate his take on the story. Cain wasted no time in sharing his candid thoughts on the matter:
That is very insensitive. There are some words that do not basically inspire the kind of negativity like that particular word. And I know that youve refrained from saying that word, so Im going to say what the word was on the rock. The name of the place was called Niggerhead. That is very insensitive. And since Governor Perry has been going there for years to hunt, I think that shows a lack of sensitivity for a long time of not taking that word off of that rock and rename the place. Its just a basic case of insensitivity.

The Perry family rich, well off people?
No offense, but yours is a silly post.
This now delays Sarah’s announcement by a week as she wisely lets it play out. ; /
It seems the word ‘nigger” is being used by candidates and the media somewhat. I think it was during the OJ trial everyone started acting like the word cannot be printed or said.
I’s a derogatory term, but why did fear of printing it reach cult status? I can’t see any justification for being afraid to acknowledge the term. It just elevated it to a preposterous level.
Any kid who grew up in West Texas (back when kids used to play outside) knows what a "niggerhead" is. It's a prolific perennial which sends up a seed shoot on a long slender stem. The "head" is round, rock-hard, dark brown/black and the head surface has the appearance of closely cropped Negro hair.
As children, we'd pull these and chase each other trying to bonk each other on the head.
They grow thickly in open spaces and among the mesquites when moisture conditions are right.
If Cain didn’t have all the facts he should have declined comment until he knew everything...
Instead he went the Sharpton route.
agree with your response, Cain answered the question thrown at him by idiot media person as a got cha question...he answered well the question he was asked...
I heard Perry drove through here too...insensitive fellow...

I agree with what you said and you said it better then I could.
Hey Cain, Perry’s father did take the name off the rock by painting it over about 30 years ago.
You can apologize for your ignorance here, but you showed an incredible lack of judgment by letting yourself be used this way. Not sure if I can forgive that. We’ll sees
“Cain just lost my support.”
LOL!!! You’re one of biggest Perry supporters on here!
It is sad to see how many people are falling right into the media’s hands in this not stepping back and seeing what they were doing.
This should be a conversation about the media and how they are trying to wedge out the Conservative candidates.
If Cain comes out quickly to counter his use of the race card, I’ll give him a mulligan.
Otherwise he’s no better then Sharpton, J.Jackson sr, J.jackson jr, Waters and all the other CBC and NAACP types.
You've been trashing Cain and pushing Perry since day one. How about stepping back and looking at how the media is manipulating you.
Somewhere in Alaska; Sarah Palin smiles...
Nobody has alleged that the Perry family painted it on the rock. They leased the right to hunt on property that had a rock with "Niggerhead" painted on it, God knows when. The only beef they can come up with is that they didn't paint over it soon enough (even though it wasn't their property), and that's all unnamed sources. Anyone who is willing to be named says they did it soon after getting the lease.
Cain didn’t use the race card, the media did. They threw it down, he responded in probably the only logical way he could considering the way the question was presented.
When will Cain talk about how insensitive it was for Romney’s family to be a part of a religion that discriminated against blacks until the late 70s?
I won’t hold my breath...
Show me where it says the Perry family painted the rock.
