OccupyWallStreet - Not
Myself | Oct 5, 2011 | Oceander

Posted on 10/05/2011 8:42:05 PM PDT by Oceander

A little tourists' cornucopia from the big, bad OccupyWallStreet thingey. I took the images below on my way to work this morning - discarded most of 'em cause they were just too pathetic - and thought I'd share them. My absolute fave is that earnest-looking upper middle class white kid in the bottom 4 pix (my "vignettes") - especially the last one, where he's so neatly folding his Buzz Lightyear towel - probably still smells like the Downy fabric softener mommie used when she washed it for him.

Please feel free to borrow as you wish, and to editorialize as you wish - but only so long as you isolate, polarize, and ridicule.

Lastly, just a warning - these pics are the small(er) versions of my originals. If you click on one, it will open up a larger version in a new window. Be forewarned, however: the larger files are about 1.1MB to 1.4MB in size.

Heads up, they're on to you.

These people aren't exactly, well, stable, and while I normally post over there just to tweak their noses from a Libertarian perspective I thought I better create a username here just to let you know. Be careful.

Thanks. Particularly for the link to the thread. It's nice to see how, shall we say, incompetent they are; I'm not going to explain some of the internet basics to them, like how to fix a broken url.

But I do wanna give a shoutout to my newest fan-boy, grasswire, over at DU, who has so far started two threads on my poor little photomontage so far. Thanks fan-boy grasswire! keep up the good work!

I've also got a few more odds and ends I found on the cutting-room floor, but I'll only bore you, in particular, with one of them, because it so nicely encapsulates the hypocrisy of the Romper Room Revolution:

occupyWallStreet - Lily. White.

Fact of the matter is, any conservative club Herman Cain might go to would almost by definition have more minorities and more "diversity" than OccupyWallStreet has. Apparently, liberals/progressives just can't give up that age-old democrat party tradition of KKK-style racism (ala the late Senator Byrd and too many other democrat party luminaries to count).

For the first time in my life I am truly ashamed of my country.

I would still proudly stand up and protect them, but, sigh...

Thanks! Yeah, I know. I've got my new bestest friend grasswire over there stokin' em up for me!

In the meantime, I'm just sprinkling some more odds and ends I found on the cutting-room floor around. I might be going on a trip soon, so I'd hate to have too much stuff left cluttering up my DSLR memory cards.

The Romper Room Revolution

Not much standing going on here, is there? I guess they must not be the "workers" that sign refers to.

Oh yeah, and grasswire, before you and your buddies - like Mr. Troops - do anything rash, let me give youz a clue; this:

this is not Oceander

is not me. See that question mark there at the end - y'know, that squiggly thing after my name? That means the image is not, in fact, of me. I'd try to explain it by analogy to Magritte's painting "Ceci n'est pas une pipe" but I'm not sure that'd do the trick.

Suffice it to say that youze guyz should tell Stephen Lerner and the SEIU enforcers to leave this poor kid alone if they find him. Heck, he's probably one of your guys.

Finally, here's the pic of my kit bag, in all its glory:

Oceander's Kit Bag

I'll leave it for you to figure out why the link works for me but not for you.

P.S., I suppose I should have qualified that by saying it was a pic of one of my kit bags; unfortunately, that means that stopping every tourist to check their kit bags won't work, well, at least it won't do any good in trying to find me.

I'd not be ashamed my friend. Our good will and charity, offered in good faith, have been taken advantage of by those who prefer to live the life of parasitism. It is no slur on our honor that we offered our good will and charity in the first instance, though they be taken advantage of.

I think, perhaps, that the possibility of shame lies in whether we as a country can stand by another old adage: fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

I hope and pray that we shan't be fooled again.

Yo, grassfire, my #1 homey on DU! Y'mind asking sabrina 1 to take a chill-pill; this post makes we worried she's gonna hav a coronary or something and quite frankly that'd be a disaster, 'cause Andrew, Glenn and I really need to have her and her sisters around - at least until Nov. 6, 2012.

He’s excited for the opportunity and is planning to work his way up. And, as a product of a state school, I couldn’t agree more. I learned far more than some people I know from the Ivies.

Okey dokey campers; unfortunately, I can't make it downtown today - duty calls, y'know - but a little "tweetie bird" did tell me that the Party Central Committee is now apparently "congregating" in the yard at Trinity church - under the white tent as you face the church with your back to Wall Street. I guess, after several weeks, they've finally figured out roughly where Wall Street is located; maybe next month they'll finally figure out how to occupy it - after all, isn't the "movement" called OccupyWallStreet?

At any rate, my "tweetie bird" tells me that she is pretty sure that's where the Party Central Committee is now "congregating," if you will, because "Brendan," as he was calling himself last week when he attended the Party Central Committee meeting on the sidewalk at Zuccotti Park, was strolling around at the entrance to the church yard. To refresh everyone's recollection, here's "Brendan" from last week's Party Central Committee meeting:

Perhaps some enterprising young photog might want to follow up on the new meet-n-greet while I'm away?

Tell your friend he's got my best wishes. I completely agree about the Ivies; they're only really worth attending if for some odd reason you really need to buy a degree from one of them (can't think of a real reason why, but some people feel they have to have an Ivy-league - I'd call 'em bush league - degree). Just don't go be a fool and take out tons of student loans to buy that silly Ivy degree though, otherwise you'll end up like this sorry sad-sack:

But it's just so much more fun to sit in a puddle of your own tears, feeling sorry for yourself and complaining about how dark it is in the hole you dug for yourself; after all, lawyers are, at bottom, nothing more than professional complainers, paid - when they can find work - to go complain for others.

Which reminds me of a little lawyer joke, which I shall revise to fit the circumstances: what do you call 10,000 unemployed lawyers in New York? A good start.

A few of those ivy league schools have so much endowment income that they don’t NEED to charge tuition. With grants and scholarships how can they have student loans?

there are more law school openings than there are first year students.

AND!

there are NEW LAW SCHOOLS OPENING!!!
none have closed.

Remember the Shakespeare play where the conspirators wanted to take over the country by eliminating lawyers? We have done that by collapsing the lawyer education system.

Too many law schools have crippled the profession.

Easy, just take the refrain from that old song by Big Bill Broonzy:

If you is white, you's alright, if you's brown, stick around, but if you's black, hmm, hmm, brother, get back, get back, get back.

transpose the words "white" and "black" and there you have it. Of course, to be comprehensive, you could also stick in a gender component as well, perhaps a second line like "If you a girl, give it a whirl, but if you a guy, good-bye." (as should be obvious from even this bit of doggerel, I couldn't write a song to save my life).
