The book was the final nail, in my estimation (true or exaggerated it is inconsequential).

“I am really disappointed in Sarah Palin, after all the Courage she has turned Coward,”

I am sure I wouldn’t take all the crap she has, nor would you

I'm not surprised. I called this one as several deadlines passed. I was savaged for doing so, on Palin threads.

I'm not mad about that. I know how crazy people get on FR during primary season. I just wish that the Palinistas (of which I was actually one) would have considered the possibility that she wasn't running.

She is the original ‘refusenik’. Quit Alaska, now left us hang in the 2012s. I’ll be damned if I ever get behind her again.

300 million people -- and this is the best we can do?

Yes, given the nature of our current system and situation...

My experience with party politics at the precinct level was not good. I tried getting into this once, and it was generally a clique of the locals who grew up "here" and went to high school together, despite my having lived in the area 20 years...

AND it was mainly lawyers and their lawyer sons who automatically got the leadership roles...

And no one really wanted to talk political philosophy, and the origins and strengths of the nation as they should be.

A more conservative local group was formed in the county by "outsiders" who were really oriented toward the sorts of things that we consider important here at FR. They were opposed tooth-and-nail, instead of welcomed, by the county party leadership.

And we are talking the GOP in Texas.

When great people like Palin, West, Cain try to contribute, look at the gauntlet thrown in front of them by BOTH the MSM and the GOP powers-that-be.

So yes - this is what you get.

Cain is my man now.

BUT even if it is Romney in the end, I can support him COMPLETELY against re-electing Obama. Holding my nose maybe, but seriously, if it ends up being these two guys, are you going to stand down and let Obama have even a chance at re-election?

??? 4 more years of Obama ??? VS Romney?

ABO - that's what it has to be, no matter what.

IMHO

love you Latin tagline, but doubt that you know any Latin other than standard oft used phrases. I took Latin for two years, I suspect you didn’t. Just more evidence that you are pretentious, plus the other stuff I said before, but I would never say that about someone living in their mother’s basement.

De clunibus magnis amandis oratio
Mixaloti equitis

mehercle!
(By Hercules!)
Rebecca, ecce! tantae clunes isti sunt!
(Rebecca, behold! Such large buttocks she has!)

amica esse videtur istorum hominum rhythmicorum.
(She appears to be a girlfriend of one of those rhythmic-oration people.)
sed, ut scis,
(But, as you know)
quis homines huiusmodi intellegere potest?
(Who can understand persons of this sort?)
colloquuntur equidem cum ista eo tantum, quod scortum perfectum esse videtur.
(Verily, they converse with her for this reason only, namely, that she appears to be a complete whore.)
clunes, aio, maiores esse!
(Her buttocks, I say, are rather large!)
nec possum credere quam rotondae sint.
(Nor am I able to believe how round they are.)
en! quam exstant! nonne piget te earum?
(Lo! How they stand forth! Do they not disgust you?)
ecce mulier Aethiops!
(Behold the black woman!)

magnae clunes mihi placent, nec possum de hac re mentiri.
(Large buttocks are pleasing to me, nor am I able to lie concerning this matter.)
quis enim, consortes mei, non fateatur,
(For who, colleagues, would not admit,)
cum puella incedit minore medio corpore
(Whenever a girl comes by with a rather small middle part of the body)
sub quo manifestus globus, inflammare animos
(Beneath which is an obvious spherical mass, that it inflames the spirits)...

I give up. I don’t care who wins now. Obama can win and ruin the country for all I care. Any gop pick won’t make a difference. If we’re going down, best to have Obama doing the driving so we know without a shadow of doubt that who’s the cause. So that by 2016, we can pick the right gop candidate

Actually, we should give up harder then that. I want us to see if Putin will allow us to join Russia, and we can all go full-on Communist, but only we can get rid of the Constitution and adapt Sharia. In about 2000 years, our population will be sick enough of it to commit mass suicide. Then there will be no people. And only then, will our country shine again!!!

Mass Suicide, 4012!!!!

It’s easy to quit when you have no reason to stay in the game.

After watching the latest Republican debate, I can’t honestly support ANY of those people.. and they’re all we’re gonna have to choose from now.

Oh, GREAT.

Maybe I can vote for Robocandidate... um, Mitt Romney. After all, he must stand for SOMETHING besides nice hair. Trouble is, I can’t figure out what that something is, and if I could, I wouldn’t believe him because he’s flip flopped on EVERYTHING.

Bachmann can’t seem say anything that sticks, and comes off more like a P.T.A. Mom who somehow got lost and ended up in a Presidential debate.

Ummm... maybe I can vote for Newt. Yeah. THAT’LL work. After all, the public already LOVES him, don’t they? I can look forward to more photo ops with Nancy Pelosi and more insanity like “a laptop for every child.” Hell, maybe he’ll even keep Hillary on as Secretary of State...

Maybe I can vote for Rick Perry... Oh, no. A President has to speak every now and then and, when he does, Rick comes off like a faulty clone of George Bush. No, No, NOOOO PLEASE NOOOOO!

Ron Paul? Oh, yeah. HE’S electable. Maybe Ralph Nader can be Vice President, and we can send some nukes to Iraq, just to help them along.

Herman Cain? I kind of liked him until he got all “sensitive” about a 30 year old painted over rock that he admits he knew nothing about. Guess rising in the polls went right to his head.

As for the other talking suits... (a.k.a., the “2nd tier” of an already pathetic lineup). Sorry. Nothing in the bullpen either.

The limited choice for president is a symptom, the disease is the moral and intellectual vacuum which has settled over North America. Someone just yesterday told me about a new “reality” show of which I have been unaware, he said it was called “The Repo Game”. The forty eight year old man who was telling me about it was aghast at the utter stupidity of the “contestants”. It seemed as if he had just suddenly awakened and realized what has been going on around him all his life.

The root of our problem has been carefully nurtured for decades while most Americans studiously ignored the process. There IS NO SHORT TERM SOLUTION. If Ronald Reagan could come back and take the helm tomorrow he could not turn this ship around before it hits the iceberg.

Those of us over sixty know how much things have changed, those who are much younger need to study old movies and literature. Every day those who still believe in what used to be plain common sense, as incontrovertible as the rising of the Sun, are labeled as “extremists”, even many older people seem to have lost touch with reality and stand ready to believe the most absurd ideas imaginable. I will offer only one example, the idea that the Republican party is the natural home of white racism. Anyone who knows anything knows this is ridiculous but it is taken as unquestioned truth by millions today.

If the loss of Sarah Palin for president kills America, then we’re beyond saving anyway

WELL SAID!!!

It's up to all of us, as it has always been.

Cheers, sir - we SHALL overcome!

And we definitely shouldn’t forget that the president is just one branch of government. Please, please, please let us not forget the Democrats AND Republicans in Congress who so eagerly backed the left’s agenda. President Obama couldn’t have accomplished much without their willing cooperation, and cooperate gleefully they did!

I think of Christie and Palin’s explanations this week. Imagine Washington, Lincoln or Roosevelt, each during a period of national duress and distress, declining pursuit of the Highest Office for “family reasons,” or “It’s not my time,” or “It’s just not in me,” or “uh, I’m comfortable where I am right now and can’t be inconvenienced,” blah, blah, blah.

I meaintain: This is not the country it once was. It is not the country that rebuilt the Pacific Fleet within months after Pearl Harbor was bombed. It’s a country that instead spent years debating what to do with a gaping whole in the ground left by 9/11. A perfect metaphor.

Great summary - for decades, we’ve had nothing to choose but Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. I’m not playing that game any more.

The report showed that while she spent a considerable sum — $673,000 — raising money, she did little to bolster a staff, instead paying her parents for jobs listed as “correspondence and card mailing.”

“the office of the Presidency is way more important than ...”

Don’t worry about the office of the Presidency. It’s present occupant is likely to be replaced (it’s up to us). Our present financial crisis was born 20 years ago and nurtured under several presidents along with a citizenry that wasn’t paying attention or, more charitably, was misled by its leaders.

Palin has been an enormous influence so far as an independent voice. Why not assume she will continue to be an enormous influence?

Get back to me in 2016, after four years of either Obama or Romney. We’re through.

Bingo chief.

Romney may as well be bammy.

Perry would be eaten alive in DC.

Herman seems ok now but there is some history there that could easily be co-opted. As for any real reform of the establishment GOP, I just don't see that from Cain.

As it stands, the situation sucks.

And we are out of time.

Even 'The Tammy' is annoyed with her idol:

Tammy Bruce

In this economy it would have been a nice gesture to announce she wasn't running before everyone ran to Walmart to get The Undefeated
