The Executive Branch is operating with no checks or balances.

This is one of the most dangerous things a double-talking, double-dealing conscienceless tyrannical government can get into, and we’re letting them do it. It’s just nuts.

And now folks will know why I questioned the sanguinity of all those supporting executive powers like this with no checks and no balances from elected officials or Article 3 courts.

The Elian thing also. When the feds realized that the sheeple love brute force and fear liberty, it was all over.

I'd add the child abuse witch hunts also. They were atrocities that no one ever paid for.

The Star Chamber (Latin: Camera stellata) was an English court of law that sat at the royal Palace of Westminster until 1641. It was made up of Privy Counsellors, as well as common-law judges and supplemented the activities of the common-law and equity courts in both civil and criminal matters. The court was set up to ensure the fair enforcement of laws against prominent people, those so powerful that ordinary courts could never convict them of their crimes.

Court sessions were held in secret, with no indictments, no right of appeal, no juries, and no witnesses. Evidence was presented in writing. Over time it evolved into a political weapon, a symbol of the misuse and abuse of power by the English monarchy and courts.

In the Star Chamber the council could inflict any punishment short of death, and frequently sentenced objects of its wrath to the pillory, to whipping and to the cutting off of ears. ... With each embarrassment to arbitrary power the Star Chamber became emboldened to undertake further usurpation. ... The Star Chamber finally summoned juries before it for verdicts disagreeable to the government, and fined and imprisoned them. It spread terrorism among those who were called to do constitutional acts. It imposed ruinous fines. It became the chief defense of Charles against assaults upon those usurpations which cost him his life.

And this is in the Constitution--- where?

Scary that only crazy Ron Paul is asking that?

What's even worse is how many FReepers are all for this. I don't understand how they could be so stupid as to think that this won't be used against Conservative Americans who stand against the Leftists.

and also, we make sure that we follow international law," Ruppersberger said.

OH THANK GOD, they follow international law.

So let me get this straight, Obama. The US cannot waterboard an Arab, but we can kill TWO Americans. okeedokee

I'm surprised there aren't cheers about this on FR! Nothing but an 'ends justify the means' justification of this for the past week on FR - the 5th Amendment be damned.

I'm so sad to see conservatives embrace this.

I have a hard time picking a favorite scene from Tombstone. The one I quoted from is darned good. The one you linked to is excellent. Doc and Johnny Ringo facing off in the bar speaking Latin and twirling guns and cups has got to go down as a classic movie scene. And there are so many more!

I couldn't find a pic of Kurt Russel dressing down Billy Bob. Seems like there aren't that many pics coming up in search engines anymore.

FWIW, when there were posts about this being wrong, there were just as many if not more comments saying "He's a terrorist, who cares!!!???

My point to those people was that if the government is sitting around deciding which citizen needs killing and who doesn't, and we allow them that power, you may be next.

So many hypocrites on both sides. Conservatives say who cares he was a terrorist, oh wait there's a secret list, that's wrong!!! Liberals decry waterboarding arabs captured on the battlefield, and then stand behind Obummer when he bombs this guy.
