Actually, this is why they are protesting -
they want to continue to get their needs and their creature comforts supplied to them with no effort expended on their own.

You miss the point of the article - which is that it matters not what the politicians or the media does - the people will see it, period.

Some thoughts:
1) These folks will be ‘thrown under the bus’ by Obama and most of the left....these demonstrators are,after all, NOTHING but useful idiots or cannon fodder for the hard left. Th left has always been very good at sacrificing their own for the ‘cause’.
2) The media will paint Obama as a ‘moderate’ and not the Marxist that the ‘evil Tea Party’ says he is.
3) This is all a ‘street show’ for the independents voters to sway them.
4) Conservatives will NOT be convinced that Obama is some sort of moderate but the gullible indies might.

Ha! In this case "clean" is only a figure of speech.
If it turns into mass rioting then yes, the electorate will flee to the right, just as they flocked to Nixon in 1968.
On the other hand, if they keep it peaceful, and come up with some reasonable sounding demands which are picked-up by the Democrats (control bank fees, limit credit card interest, enforce cramdowns and haircuts on mortgages, etc.) this movement could become politically very dangerous.
This country has a fit of anti-banking populism on a more or less cyclical basis, and we are overdue. Not to mention I have always felt that there were a whole lot of my fellow Americans who were just real eager to buy into John Edwards’ “Two Americas” crap if they could just come up with a less slimy salesman.
If Obama’s ties to Ayers and his “reverend” Wright weren’t a disaster, I doubt very much this will be. The degree of liberal stupidity apparently knows no limit.
None of the celebrity pukes named in the first paragraph are particularly “poor”.
