SEATAC, Wash. - Rental car company Hertz indefinitely suspended 34 Somali Muslim shuttle drivers at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for praying on company time, and the workers' union is trying to put them back in the driver's seat after what it calls a sudden policy change.
The drivers are required to clock out, under the terms of a settlement two years ago with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Hertz spokesman Rich Broome said.
"We felt it was reasonable for our Muslim employees who need to pray a couple times during the workday to clock in and clock out," Broome said.

On Wednesday, a few dozen people from labor and faith organizations protested outside the Hertz counter at the airport, waving signs saying, "Respect me, Respect my religion."
Making inroads, always making inroads....

I don’t know how long they pray, maybe it was excessive.
I was always pissed of at employees who took multiple smoke breaks.
I don’t smoke, and I did not get the same beraks.

Well, obviously this means that (at least) 5 times a day they are NOT picketing - or do they only pray when on the clock or ‘disrupting’ business.
If they want to be respected by the “secular” world for their religion, they have to behave themselves like people of other religions do in similar circumstances. If a Jewish person or a Catholic, say, wants to go to his house of worship for a holy day falling during the work week, he arranges for the time off. Muslims should similarly treat these prayer stops as non working breaks. You’d think even CAIR would be admonishing these bums for the needless bad publicity for American Muslims.
They are illustrating that it is not about religion but about domination. They are substituting their culture for ours. It has always been the muslim way; they do not adapt. They could care less about “religious freedom” in the the countries they dominate, but here they will use our religious freedom to their advantage.
IOW, the error is in considering islam to be a religion.
that = take
I don’t disagree, and typically any bid by a religious body to act this way has been treated unkindly by the “secular” world. I say “secular” in the sense that the people may be quite religious on their own, and may openly disagree with religions that they do not believe in and may attempt to win people to their own beliefs, but they still permit others to pursue their own religious practices. This toleration stops where the other religion begins to muscle in through more than argument. If this gives Muslims a black eye, then rightly so. Again, if CAIR had any sense they’d tell these clowns to back off their personal bullying jihads.
Technically, I’d disagree that Islam is “not a religion.” It’s a religion that is virtually unique in that, at least in its fundamentalist forms, has a tenet of world conquest by force if need be. Other religions have eschatologies that often predict a very tumultous turning over of the world to their view, but this invariably is predicted to occur by the aid of fearsome divine or supernatural miracles. Islam is the do-it-yourself version. It is a religion — the rabid dog of religions.
Muslims need to go back to the country they came from, if they want time off from work to pray. Why is Hertz hiring so many muslims, anyway? 70%?
Well until the smoke Nazi’s pushed everyone outdoors, it wasn’t a problem. I don’t smoke myself, but making them move further and further away will only make them less productive.
When at University, our daughter, divorced and raising a small child while working and carrying a full study load, lived in an apt. complex just below God only knows how many Muslims, whose knees hit the floor simultaneously and hard twice a night, while raising their voices fit to be heard in Mecca sans phone. One time was always in the wee hours, like 1-4 AM. She had to have some rest, so I told her to move, not complain, as there was no telling the retaliation they might take if she complained.
They do not care where they are --on the street?--no problem! just bow their head and stick their butt in the air wherever.
Would Hertz allow a Christian to clock out to pray, say during Lent or the Christmas season--not even daily, but a few special occasions a year? I think not!
vaudine
I flew out of SeaTac on Tuesday and back in on Friday and didn’t see any sign-waving ragheads. They must have been out performing ritual sacrifices...

Here comes the ACLU.

How about respecting your contract agreement, filthy goat jumpers.
5 times a Day
First, it says that the policy to clock out/in was the result of a settlement 2 full years earlier.
Then it says the policy changed last week.
My guess is the "policy change" wasn't that they had to clock out/in, but was that they decided to suspend people who BROKE the policy.
If that is true, then they are complaining not because what was legal suddenly became unacceptable, but because they've been allowed to break the rules for 2 years and suddenly they are being punished for it.
