exactly ... and then add to that all the Santorum and Bachmann voters, most of the Paul voters and, probably, the majority of the Gingrich voters. But there is a consolation prize: Mitt will get all (both?) of the Huntsman voters.

Oh....I see how my wording would confuse you. I meant “Why does Mitt think Mitt has a chance of winning?”

Because Mitt will never, ever be President.

“So much for Mitt and Cain being in cahoots! “

OMG!!! Are you telling me that DRey and the other Perrybots are LYING to us. NOOOOOO!!!!!

You know, one thing about what they’re saying that doesn’t make sense: Does any (reasonable) person REALLY THINK that Cain will go into the convention and hand his 51%+ of the delegates to Romney...in exchange for being his VP? I mean, really.

“Cain will be an easy target for Romney if it comes down to the two of them.”

And just HOW does Romney expect to take down Cain, given that the Tea Party is behind Cain? Lack of moderation, lack of DC experience, lack of principal...

Nice words - now if you can answer my question, I’ll know you’re not a Perrybot.

Cain has not shown he can translate solid polling numbers into money

Which is far more important than translating polling numbers into votes, right? Because you really want to spend a lot of money promoting yourself to people who have already learned about you and seen what you're made of.

“Cain has not shown he can translate solid polling numbers into money...”

Romney (and now Perry) have shown that they can have a HUGE AMOUNT OF MONEY and NOT break away from the pack.

Cain has shown he could vault to the top tier with next to nothing.

Checkmate.

I knew this was the next step coming. Watch Romney back down like the P**** that he is when confronted by either Cain directly or the moderate at the Tuesday debate over this little verbal bomblet.

Because when it counts, money and organization matter. Cain does not seem to be translating any of this polling success into actual money and campaign infrastructure.

And just HOW does Romney expect to take down Cain, given that the Tea Party is behind Cain? Lack of moderation, lack of DC experience, lack of principal...

Because time and time and time again, Republican primary voters default to the safe option. Questions of electability and defeating Obama first and foremost will dominate decision making.

As well spoken as Cain is, he is a political novice and when it comes time to take him down, the media and Romney's opposition research backed by huge amounts of cash won't have a hard time doing it. Romney will just plant enough seeds of doubt to knock Cain out. Cain has received little real scrutiny yet, once it begins they will pick through everything he's ever said and he will have to answer for it. No matter how much you like him, it's easy to destroy a candidacy that way.

Sorry, this is just political reality. You can believe Cain is going to ride this wave all the way to the nomination, but the people who put the big bucks where their mouth is don't seem to agree. This is the kind of thing you see almost every election cycle. Some grass roots favorite does well but can't attract enough money to compete when it counts. It's always possible Cain will be the exception, but I doubt it. Gonna come down to who can raise the biggest pot of money and build the best state campaign teams - that is likely to be Romney and Perry.

Here is Romney just today speaking of Cain:

"We each have our own experiences, he’s a great guy. Vote for either one of us and you’ll be happy," Romney said, per POLITICO's Reid Epstein.

That is NOT something one says about a candidate they view as a serious threat.

“Because when it counts, money and organization matter. Cain does not seem to be translating any of this polling success into actual money and campaign infrastructure. “

Considering that he’s been in the top tier for what, a week, you sure sound awfully IMPATIENT with him.

“Because time and time and time again, Republican primary voters default to the safe option. Questions of electability and defeating Obama first and foremost will dominate decision making. “

Just like they did in 1980 when they nominated that NUTCASE over the safe bet of a VERY HIGHLY experienced politician. So cut the crap on this one...unless Cain HIMSELF implodes, we’re all ready to pull the trigger, just like I did in 1980.

“As well spoken as Cain is, he is a political novice and when it comes time to take him down, the media and Romney’s opposition research backed by huge amounts of cash won’t have a hard time doing it.”

Based on what, his spoiled upbringing. The fact that if it wasn’t for quotas he’d be doing dishes. The fact that he can’t read better than a Third Grader. Well, we’ll see.

“Sorry, this is just political reality. You can believe Cain is going to ride this wave all the way to the nomination, but the people who put the big bucks where their mouth is don’t seem to agree.”

It didn’t work in 1980, so we’ll see. I, personally, don’t vote for whom I’m told. It takes a lot more convincing than some TV commercials. I vote for the CONSERVATIVE who doesn’t coddle illegals.

“That is NOT something one says about a candidate they view as a serious threat.”

No, this is what someone says when they don’t know how to deal with a surging black opponent, because that doesn’t fit any template in the Republican Party (sorry for the racial part, but it does fit here). He (and Perry) simply have to be very careful, until their well-paid pollsters can figure out a strategy to deal with Cain. I doubt either of those guys have spent much more than a week on him.

The mistake was mine, I read it wrong.

I also read your name wrong (too long a day!), I thought it was a different psycho, a real one, lol!

I think something the Romney-bots need to understand is that Romney has very good name recognition and his positions are known by most people.

Romney’s big problem is that no amount of money can overcome the fact that everyone already knows he is a liberal.

I'll take Herman Cain, thank you. A man who has looked death in the face and said “No Thank You”

This concerns me, he needs a good running mate. I just heard last night on the news, Stage 4?? That's at death's door. God must have plans for this man to survive that.

Think what you like, but Romney’s entire strategy is to knock out Perry. He is not the least bit concerned about Cain. Here is an article on Hot Air about it from Allahpundit:

http://hotair.com/archives/2011/10/10/mitt-romney-vote-for-me-or-for-herman-cain/

If you can’t see what is going on here, there is no way I can convince you.

Much as I like Cain, and I think he is a wonderful conservative who is extremely well spoken and actually has the ability to communicate conservatism, he’s a political novice whom Romney will have no trouble dispatching with when the time comes. Cain’s polling is simply not translating into the money and organization needed to actually challenge Mitt.

There is only one candidate Romney has any fear of, and that’s Perry. Criticize Perry all you like, but this venom and attempt to destroy him is going to come back to haunt you. I’m telling ya, he is very likely the only candidate in the race who can keep Romney from winning the nomination.

I’ve answered your same points, so have a good evening...but remember, when Cain starts to pull away from Romney in the polling (with or without a bunch of Establishment Republicans running his campaign), it was me who called it.

Romney never seems interesting to me, whereas Cain does. I don’t care a bit about the religious issue. Romney is in the mainstream of western Christian morality in the sense, at least, that he probably would not want to act against it, and probably could not anyway, even if president.
I don’t want Cain ruled out prematurely. Let’s give him some more time. He looks pretty good so far. If he has anything sensible to say about national defense policy, he would probably advance in my estimation.
We have primaries for just the purpose of fleshing out the personas of the candidates.

Is Romney any less of a Christian than Obama, who seems quite the fellow-traveller of the Mohammedens?

Wasn’t Bain Capital in Red China?

You would think Romney wouldn’t want to brag about Bain Capital!
