Fueled by Tea Party supporters, conservatives and high-interest GOP primary voters, former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain now leads the race for the Republican presidential nomination, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

snip

Cain checks in as the first choice of 27 percent of Republican voters in the poll, followed by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney at 23 percent and Perry at 16 percent. After those three, it’s Texas Rep. Ron Paul at 11 percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 8 percent, Bachmann at 5 percent and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman at 3 percent.

Everyone pays Social Security Taxes,

9 9 9 will get government out our hair and everyone will pay less taxes.

The only Conservative worth voting for is Cain now that Palin is out.

Keeping taxes the way they our is liberal, bub.

Something had better change soon. We have 49% with no skin in the tax-system. Give me your solutions if you have one.

I would rather pay sales taxes then income taxes;

The sales tax is the only type tax the founding father endorsed.

Perhaps you should read the 9-9-9 plan a bit more.

I already pay over 9% sales tax in my state and I don’t think there is tax on meds, but I could be wrong as I have medical insurance thru my employer and I pay $10.00 for my meds, except for one that costs $25.00
And no tax unless it is built into the cost.

I pay 20% of the Premium, my Employer pays 80%

As mentioned before, you would see the economy expand like never before if this plan were ever implemented.

And maybe that $500 medication will cost a lot less after the corporate tax rate is cut so drastically.

Remember the POS cars Detroit built in the 70’s, and by the mid-late 80’s, they were much better built because instead of the “Big 3” paying a 70% tax rate, they were able to put that money into R&D

Who knows - maybe a competing drug company will come out with a better drug at a much lower cost after 9-9-9 is implemented, much like Detroit built much better cars in the 80’s than the 70’s and were a much better value.

Like I said, I’ll defer to the guy with a degree in Math and Physics on this subject, and I suggest people go to Mr. Cain’s web site and read the specifics about 9-9-9

Unless you want 4 more years of President Zero and the economy to further tank and have the cost of everything skyrocket.

The MSM is going nuts. Instead of calling Cain a “Business Executive” they are basically calling him a Pizza Boy, as if his experience consists of Pizza delivery and nothing else.

If Cain frightens the left this much, then I know he is the right choice.

The left isn’t really saying much about Perry or Romney or anyone else, but they are “Palinizing” Cain.

While 9-9-9 may not benefit 100% of the people, it will benefit 100% of the country either directly or indirectly.

Of course they are screaming. Everybody pays. It kills the power of government to direct taxation to whom it desires.

We start by stopping 99 weeks of unemployment, drug testing people who are on unemployment and welfare... and basically anyone who works has skin in the game because we all pay FICA taxes — pretty heafty FICA at that... lower cap gains and create an atmosphere for businesses to return to the USA, get out schools off the union teet and teaching our kids the three R’s instead of liberal feel good crap... this country is not going to turn around in one administration, this is going to take a generation of concerted effort, but taxes are not the solution, a stable tax base is part of the solution and by that I mean business knowing they are not going to be taxed at every turn. Those OWS people scare me as much as these Cain supporters, everyone is pointing fingers somewhere else, fact is this started with th hippy generation of the 60’s and things have been going downhill since... the less money sent to DC the better... if you listened to Perry in NH after the debate last night he said it best, get DC back to doing what they constitution said they are responsible for and send the rest back to the states to do as each state sees fit.... Cain is not talking smaller government, all he talks about is 999... it is catchy and people are falling over themselves because he says it with a smile and he is a talkshow host and knows how to communicate... but he isn’t The Gipper!

Cain’s tax will be 9% on everything, food, drugs, everything... he said it himself in one of the debates... that my friend is a VAT tax, call it what you will it is a VAT... then he has the 9% income tax in addition to the 9% sales tax... and then the 9% cap gains tax on business...

"Palinizing" joins "Borking" in the Dictionary of Leftist Newspeak.

Cain is an existential threat to the establishment of both parties.

A VAT tax is a process tax. This isn’t even close.

I understand our problem with this and Boehner is probably right. When you say “look at what we are doing” it does not diminish Herman Cain. He will kick this BS from Obama to the curb whether his plan is accepted or not.

Well Good! I guess we are finally in agreement on something. I really hope that other freepers do that! The strange thing is that if they were to print out your posting history they will find that you have posted far far more in the last 2 days on your extreme hatred of Herman Cain than the total posted in any of the previous 11 years since your first post on February 09, 2000 about baseball player John Rocker.

Your posts in the last two days bear no resemblance to the thoughtful comments and articles of interest to fellow freepers made in years past. The contrast is so great that there is almost no chance that you are actually the same person. The writing style has almost no resemblance. I am fairly certain that the original Huck's account has been hijacked. This type of sad thing happens here occasionally. I will continue to follow your posts. Fellow Freepers take a look for your self.

Half of that tax is paid by the employer and is not coming out of the salary, but it is in addition to it as an expense. The benefit directly to the pay check is only half of that check.

I still think all of the Cain supporters are leading the country to the slaughter...he is not ready for President... nice guy, it seems, but boy oh boy I can’t believe everyone is falling for pretty words and platitudes.

So are you saying that the Cain supporters are falling for a smooth-talking huckster?

I find that offensive as I’ve hardly heard him speak, but I’ve read what he has to say, and I’ve read about his Executive Experience.

Here’s a guy who has a Math and Physics degree, and a Computer Science degree.

He was also Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, so he knows how money affects “works” and affects our economy.

The left is howling about 9-9-9 because those 49% that are currently not paying will have to start paying.

Then there is a huge underground economy that is not paying taxes either.

Taxation alone is not the answer - fiscal responsibility is, as well as a healthy economy.

Cain was put in charge of 400 of the worst-performing, least-profitable BK Restaurants in Philly, and in 3 years, turned them into the most-profitable and the best-performing BK’s in the entire US.

Read his stance on other issues as well - he is as conservative as they come, although he too, like another GOP candidate was once a Dem.

He is also a TP member and supporter.

Here’s an example of how Cain thinks:
While other candidates talk about a 5% across the board cut in Government spending, Cain says instead of an across the board cut, let’s examine each program and determine if they should be cut by 5% or by 50% or eliminated altogether.

No other candidate is “thinking outside the box” in such a manner - they are just doing and saying the same thing we’ve been doing for years and its not working.

Cain will examine every aspect of Government spending and make cuts. Some big, some small, some maybe not at all, some maybe all.

Basically the same thing he did in business.

These other candidates all sound like they are saying the same thing, but just using different words and acting like Dems by making childish jokes about Cain’s 9-9-9 plan.

It’s no wonder Cain is the top candidate in most polls right now, but he may be nothing but a memory a year from now.

But right now, I look at his record in the private sector and his success, his being on Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, where he likely learned a lot about the economy and how money affects our economy, and how he doesn’t put up with any BS

Plus he takes the race card out of the hands of the Dems and might bring anywhere from 3% to 33% of the Black vote with him.

Trust me, the MSM and the Dems are going to lie and cheat and do whatever it takes to keep President Zero in office, including an October surprise, likely one with a racial component.

Cain will take the race card out of the hands of the Dems and the MSM, rip it into pieces, and throw it in the trash.

What will the Dems do then?
Call for more hippies to riot in the streets?

I cannot overemphasize how much Cain would neutralize the MSM and the race card, as any criticism of Obama by Perry or Romney or any other “white guy” will be twisted and distorted into a racial attack.

Remember the Sarah Palin/Charile Gibson interview?
The next day, every media outlet wrote and talked about how Palin wants to start a war with Russia.

Like I said, the MSM will twist and distort what comes out of the mouth of a white GOP candidate to be racist.

They are already doing it.

And I would love to see 1/3 of Blacks “leave the plantation”

As I said, everyone in the country would benefit, except the Illegal’s.

“I do think that food and medicine should be exempt from any kind of tax, though.”
“Why? If we’re not going to tax the “necessities” where do you start taxing? With clothing? Shelter? Utilities? Cable TV?”
* * *

I’m on board with Basil with this one. Clothing you cam buy used. You don’t have to have cable. (Despite what most teenagers think! :) You can sleep on your sister’s couch or buy a used mobil home. But you can’t buy *used* food (or at least, most people would not want to!) or *used* medicine. Both truly are necessities of life that must be bought new. I would not want to see people scrimping even more on what they can afford to feed their children because of a tax on food.

However, I am a Cain supporter, and I’d like to see his plan presented to terrific economic thinkers such as Paul Ryan, and eventually go through the Congressional mill. Hopefully some improvements would result.
