That they have a recording of the lead case ATF agent discussing a third weapon (an SKS rifle) that was not one of the Terry AK's sold from that gun shop, and the ticket numbers have the first ticket unexplained in their original (redacted) document dump ...
One 'excuse' that I heard was the #1 referred to the Blood Vial drawn from Terry as part of the investigation. I'm pretty sure the physical evidence would have been collected before any biological, so that doesn't make sense.

These investigators quibling over two or more guns found at a scene like this is hampering the conclusion to this investigation...

Interestingly, the guy who found the rifle in the Texas School Book Depository supposedly used to assassinate President Kennedy later said on tape that the gun he turned in was not the 6.5 Italian Carcano at all, but a German 8mm Mauser! He added that he had NO IDEA where the Dallas Police came up with the other rifle, or what they did with the one he turned in.
