Study: Rising sea levels will hit hard in South Florida
Sun-Sentinel ^ | October 20, 2011 | David Fleshler

A sea-level rise of just a few inches will bring flooding to South Florida cities, contaminate sources of drinking water and lead to sharp increases in utility bills over the next 20 or 30 years, according a study released Wednesday by Florida Atlantic University.

The study found that projected sea level increases of 3 to 6 inches by 2030, due to global warming, could overwhelm flood-control systems that in many areas are more than 50 years old. The authors provided a list of steps to be taken in the coming decades, from moving drinking-water wells inland to installing more pump stations, that could help the region cope with the higher water.

"Unprecedented sea level rise and other climate change impacts are likely to result in serious threats to the water supply, increased risks of flooding, hurricane damage, huge infrastructure investments and other consequences both known and unknown at this time," states the study, conducted by researchers at the university's Charles E. Schmidt College of Science and College of Engineering and Computer Science.

“…3 to 6 inches by 2030, due to global warming,…”

I guess they haven’t gotten the memo. There is no man-caused global warming. There is no global warming period. Why are people still publishing these articles?

I am sure all the Libs that own property there will NOT sell it and buy mountain side property.

Just like their mentor Al Gore.

its never been rising water.

As a lifetime Florida resident it is an always been the erosion of the beach from storms from waves washing out the sand.

Didn’t I just see a news story that the sea levels have been lowering over the past 20 years?

New news story: If an astroid the size of Mt. Everest hit the ocean just off of Florida, a Tsunami would sweep all life off of the Peninsula! Minorities and women will be hit hardest. This “Could” happen, so we need a project to build orbiting telescopes and missiles to deal with the situation; this will necessitate doubling NASA’s budget.

New News story: If an astroid the size of Mt. Everest hit the Atlantic ocean just off the coast of Virginia, a tsunami would erase Washington D.C. from the map. So we need a project to build orbiting telescopes and missiles ... Wait a minute ... let’s think about this a little bit more ...

The Bearing Straight once had a land bridge. That got flooded when the earth warmed and the ice melted. Since our planet is always warming and cooling, would they rather sea levels went down 3 to 6 inches? Hmmm?

So they would rather see another ice age. I hear when most of North America becomes permafrost, corn and beans grow better and we don’t have to spend as much on heating.

When will the BS stop. Eventually Florida and New Orleans and New York will all be below sea level. They could lower sea level a bit by flooding Death Valley. Just dig a little rocky canal out to the coast. Think of all the lush farmland and life that it would create not to mention additional beach front property and another port.
