We seem to lose sight of the fact Momo was suppling intel on Al-Queda and other terrorist groups. Bush effectively nuetered the Momo. Now he was killed by a bunch of Al-Queda. Well Thanks Obama. Momo is a dirt bag but the new crop is going to haunt us for years and years.IMHO

Many of the “countries” in that part of the world were “created.” Their “creators” mainly countries in Europe, knew exactly what they were doing.
They made sure the country they created included several groups that despise each other. Than the occupying country plays the game as follows: to group A, “you know, if we leave, group B and C will gang up and destroy you, better be thankful we are hear.” This is then repeated with groups B and C, with suitable substitutions of the antagonists. And it worked perfectly. This is how a relatively small country like England could have an “empire.”
The problem is, when the empire leaves or is driven out, you still have a bunch of groups that hate each other. Civil war immediately breaks out. Eventually a ruler, usually a dictator, rises up and puts a stop to it. All of the people are now all united because they all hate him. And besides, they remember the bloodshed that occurred before he showed up.
But people forget. And then the whole process must be repeated.
My favorite thing to tell the Arabs would be “We used to use a goodly portion of our food crops to make a substitute for an oil based product called ethanol. Maybe you can figure out how to use some of your oil to make a substitute for food.”
If we can get Zero out of office and a true conservative in, completing the job in Iraq is possible, and will count as a win. Ask GEN Petraeus; believe he would agree.
Same for Afghanistan, only the goals are pared back. The issue is going after the sanctuaries in Pakistan with boots on the ground and getting the Pak ISI dismantled. Ask GEN Allen; also believe he would agree.
All messy, inter-generational business. Like the Cold War, this will take decades to resolve. And there never will be a shortage of tyrants to defeat. Evil is afoot in the world. China, North Korea, Iran next.
Unfortunately, war is more a natural state for humans than peace, the exceptions being the United States and a handful of Western democracies. Which is why our defense budget needs to be tied to an appropriate percentage of GDP and doubled at this point...not slashed as is occurring (typical Socialist 'Rat maneuver).

It should also be noted that the dictators that are being brought down in the name of "democracy" are/were for the most part Israel neutral. That is, they were not on record as wanting to "wipe them off the map" and pretty much willing to live side by side in peace.
Looking down the road on this I don't see it as turning out well...JMHO.

Wrong adjective. Compared to the various ends that could have happened, a summary execution was probably the kindest end they could give.

LOL...revisionist history starting already. How can a fighter jet stop a convoy of trucks mounted with machine guns this way? From the pictures, it is obvious the French jets and probably predator drones took out the convoy and the Libyans mopped up. Madman MoMo would never stop his trucks and go running off on foot to escape, that is idiocy.
