Florida banker's wife left family to join Wall Street protesters
NEW YORK POST ^ | October 21, 2011 | KEVIN FASICK and BOB FREDERICKS

A married mother of four from Florida ditched her family to become part of the raggedy mob in Zuccotti Park -- keeping the park clean by day and keeping herself warm at night with the help of a young waiter from Brooklyn.

“I’m not planning on going home,” an unapologetic Stacey Hessler, 38, told The Post yesterday.

“I have no idea what the future holds, but I’m here indefinitely. Forever,” said Hessler, whose home in DeLand sits 911 miles from the tarp she’s been sleeping under.

Hessler -- who ironically is married to a banker -- arrived 12 days ago and planned to stay for a week, but changed her plans after cozying up to some like-minded radicals, including Rami Shamir, 30, a waiter at a French bistro in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.

...

The unemployed Long Island native compared her decision to abandon her family to Americans serving in the armed forces.

OMgosh I have know Stacey since her oldest was a baby!! She is a homeschooler in my area. I was just talking to one of my friends yesterday who has been taking care of the kids and she was disgusted with the whole situation. She has always been a liberal but she has really gone off the deep end this time. It is such a shame because the kids are very sweet and are feeling devastated by this. I think she needs prayer.

Well that sucks for her husband and kids. Regardless of what happens with her marriage, she’s still a first-class POS, IMHO.

This should be a lesson for everyone. Don’t ever marry a liberal.

I did want to say in defense of Stacey... since I have know her for years that she has always been a fantastic involved mom. She does a million things with her kids on top of homeschooling them and her husband never seemed to be involved or around to help much. She is a raging hippie liberal but always walked the walk... She would open her house to anyone, always the first to volunteer to help with co ops and activities. She was even a surrogate mom and didn’t take any money about the medical costs because she knew the couple wanted a child! I am not condoning her behavior but I think it may be more the idea that she is finally being appreciated for her efforts and I can imagine that is enough to make some people go a little wacky. Like I said before, this is really a mom and her family who needs our prayers.

Yes, you to can fulfill your life long ambition to travel to the big city, leave your family, crap in public and obtain a major case of crabs - all in the name of sticking it to THE MAN!!

Yeah, that’s showing us. Keep it up loon, when your family and friends leave you, who will you blame then - certainly not yourself or your actions, right? Poor kids. THEY are in my prayers.

Do we know if all the children are from this marriage or has she had multiple children from various men/affairs.

If she finds a hippie to lave and flies away, her husband is a lucky man. She’s got those vacuous liberal eyes that say there’s nothing here but animosity for everything.

All her kids are from the same marriage. Like I said...I know her and her family for over 15 yrs. This is really unusual behavior for a mom who has always been super involved with her family. Apparently she never intended to stay long but obviously she is feeling “empowered” and caught up in this mess. My friend was at their house this past weekend and the husband was just starting to get irritated with her adventure. He may be a banker but he is a lib also and now may be reconsidering the whole idea of OWS.

OK. Guess there’s always more than one-side to every story. Too bad, though, that she walked out on the kids. Going to be very difficult to heal the psychological wounds she inflicted on her children when she walked out on them. The kids are not at fault and are probably wondering: “What did we do that was so bad that Mom decided to leave us for a bunch of unwashed, homeless, smelley idiots?”

They say that New York City changes people who come there from other places.

In this case it sounds as if Stacey Hessler arrived as a budding socialist but rapidly moved on to become a full fledged adulteress.

PS - For his sake I hope the hubby had the presence of mind to shut down their credit cards and move the money to another bank account.
