In an interview with CNNs Piers Morgan (which Alana wrote on earlier this week), GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain spoke out on two contentious social issueshomosexuality and abortion. Lets deal with each in turn.
On homosexuality, Cain claimed that it is a choice. If there are any other factors that go into determining ones sexual orientation, Cain didnt name them.
From my understanding of things, there is no single, simple causation when it comes to sexual orientation. For example, there is no gay gene that we know of. (The much-hyped 1993 study by the National Institutes of Health didnt withstand scrutiny. A later study published in Science reported that the data do not support the presence of a gene of large effect influencing sexual orientation.) But this doesnt necessarily mean homosexuality isnt genetic at all; it could be a trait that arises from the interaction of genes.
How ones sexual orientation is determined remains uncertain and still clouded in mysterybut it is probably a combination of nature and nurture, the result of a complex interplay of factors (which may include hormones, including those that develop during gestation; genetics; brain structure and hardwiring; and environmental influences).

The neoclowns don’t like Cain. They don’t like Palin either.
Where’s the barf alert?
They can baissez my cul.
November 2012 is about that 3-letter word, “jobs”; not about homosexuality. The repub candidates need to focus on that alone.
Homosexual behavior is often mixed up with homosexual inclination. The former is always a choice. I would imagine the latter is inherently present in some cases, though it is probably cultivated or even created through choice in other cases.
It is. Whatever other factors you come up with ... it's still a choice.
Ok.
Kind of puts the sword to the idea of there being a gay gene.
Perrybot sleazy and shallow lying might be a more accurate title.

Perry supporters are kinda being jerks ever since Perry’s poll numbers went down.
My body wants to be 300 pounds. If I eat what my body craves and give in to my body’s urges, I’ll be 300 pounds in about a year and a half.
I have to fight every day to keep myself 150. If I give in too often, I blow up like a balloon.
Giving in and being fat would be a choice. Resisting the urges and redirecting myself to healthier foods is a choice.
These people don’t understand that just because one has ‘urges’ doesn’t mean that they have to follow them
Heck, if urges were meant to be followed, I wouldn’t be a faithful wife. NOBODY would be faithfully married. We all have urges that aren’t good for us.
