The 2012 Republican National Convention will take place in Tampa Bay, Florida. The logo selected by the Tampa Bay Host Committee caught flack after Republicans freaked out when some suggested in all seriousness that the logo's minaret "could be considered as Islamic 'Moorish Revival' architectural style." (The palm tree probably didn't help either.)
So when it came time for the GOP to select its event logo, the Grand Old Party tread carefully. Now, the official minaret-free 2012 Convention logo.
According to the Washington Post's piece on the logo, The elephantthe proud and strong symbol of the Republican Partywith his trunk pointed toward 2012 reflects the spirit, unity and strength of our Party as we plan a successful 2012 Republican National Convention that enables us to march toward victory next November, stated convention Chief Executive Officer William D. Harris.

The three stars on the flag represent the three states that will be carried by Obama in the 2012 election.
The elephant is lifting it’s head in disgust, and it shows it’s hindquarters to those three states, in a symbolic “What the hell were you thinking” message to the voters in those three states.
Not to belabor a point, but the logo is definitiely an Islamic style top.
Plant Hall’s tower tops do not curve into a point.
YUK! That’s the best they could come up with?
Looks like some elite’s kid got icons on line
and dropped them all in a box.
The first one is worse.I don’t like any
‘pointy’ rooftops .
Actually the gay community is represented. When you combine red and white you get pink.
Mine was tongue in cheek, too. I really botched that.
Lots of us complaining about how that first cup of coffee just doesn’t seem to be working this morning... :-)
I think the criticism about the minaret is valid, but I think the one about the stars is silly. Is Texas ignoring the other 49 states?
The flag of Tennessee has three stars.

The three stars stand of course for communism.
This is just so obvious in the flag of the General Assembly of Tennessee. It’s totally communist.

Now you are belaboring the point.
Your feeble architectural explanation aside, the domeson Plant Hall distinctly lack the curve to the pointed top shown in the logo.
The base of each tower top is onion shaped, going in a straight line to a donut,,and the top of the dome is truncated. A stylized dome would have easily incorporated what actually exists, as it is a distinct architectural design.
not being from Tampa, my first thought would be that you have a mosque downtown with a dome.
