Thanks, nuconvert. After your post, I went online and tried to read the definitions and differences (I think I may have confused myself even more). From what I gathered, Sexual misconduct is defined as the wrongful, improper conduct that is motivated by the intentional purpose and/or with no regard to their action. It doesn’t always offend or affect others in the workplace. (it gave examples of a teacher having consensual sex with a student, or a boss having an affair with his secretary). Harassment related to a wide variety of behaviors. These behaviors are found to be threatening and disturbing. *** I have the feeling these definitions are over-simplified IMHO.

“”He was on Greta last night. She is a lawyer and very good at interrogation and asking questions””

She did do a good job. Some of the questions made me uncomfortable but Herman handled them all with a lot of integrity and poise. I couldn’t help but wonder if she would have been that insistent with a dem. I have no reason to believe she wouldn’t but she didn’t let any answer just dangle there - she kept after him until she was satisfied he’d answered the question. Good tact. I didn’t have any problem believing that he related exactly what he was able to recall.

A fair assessment, and the Cain staffers need to hone up on their rapid response capabilities, and Cain needs to learn to keep his mouth shut until he has the whole story, something he failed to do on the n-head issue as one example.

I agree. He needs to be prepared and on message. I highly doubt the Politico showed their cards. They are just waiting on Cain to say something they can prove inaccurate. That's not saying they have anything damaging on him, but just want to trip him up.

I won't jump on the kneecapping campaign right now. Cain did that to Perry on the rock, which pissed me off to no end. However, I like Cain, and I hope that the story can be put behind him. I also hope this is a lesson learned on shooting from the hip on issues that he is not fully briefed.

“... talking about possible names for her baby... Cain suggested Herman”.

Are you SERIOUS?! Is that the other case? Well, then.. I can rightfully “claim” that I have been harassed/misconduct.. whatever. Each time that I was expecting a child.. people offered names all the time! I interpreted it as “involvement” not as a wrongful deed. Sheesh!

I certainly agree. The whole thing has just exploded too quickly—and I just have no doubt that the Cain team simply was not prepared..........

There is no one I know that could have their life examined like someone running for president, and not have some years ago event turn up that would be embarrassing

I mentioned Goldwater above, my memory of election 1964 and how liberals act when they feeeeeeeeeeeel threatened. Well establishment Republicans act the same way.

Nelson Rockefeller according to Stuart Spencer (Rockefeller's public relations head) said, "We had to destroy Barry Goldwater as a member of the human race."

“”But in an interview with Greta Van Susteren of the Fox News Channel shown Monday night, he acknowledged that in at least one case “there was some sort of settlement or termination,” worth “maybe three months’ salary.”—

This is a weird statement. Why the word “but”?””
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WHERE did Herman use the word “but”?
The woman probably didn’t speak English and thought he was saying “You have to be this tall to ride.”
Seriously now, in the pre-PC era, they’d have laughed her out of the company for making such a complaint.
Political correctness will be the death of this country....with diversity coming in a close second.
Such B.S.
ANYONE can make a claim as to sexual harrassment, “uncomfortable” or hostile work environment, etc...and get away with it...and also get paid for it. When a company settles, the outcome haunts the individual for years....as we see hear.
Those women would never have survived the machine shops and assembly areas I used to work in the ‘80’s. Not saying that the men were neanderthals...but they certainly wrren’t having this “PC-ness” crammed down our throats back then, either...but it was starting...
By the way, what ever became of the women working in the hostile 0bama WH?
To think that he only had 2 complaints filed against him for statements he made when he has been a boss or manager for so long is really amazing to me (that is, in the current victim centric, spring-loaded to be offended, environment). He literally had thousands of people working for him, and he would have had some people looking to extract something from the company.
He has been under the media microscope for only a few weeks and we know more about him than we have yet to learn about Obama.
“”Are you SERIOUS?!””
My thoughts exactly. I’m sure you got more than advice on a name for your babies while you were pregnant. We all have, haven’t we?
Let’s hope Herman didn’t offer any other such advice! HA! He could be in deep doo-doo! As he said last night on Greta, he may have commented on a new hairdo of a female employee and did it in a flattering way occasionally. I don’t think the man knows how to be rude or crude.
That is such an appropriate phrase. Of course, I won’t remember it but I sure do like it.
” Then the Scarborough/Rove RINOs accuse him of not being ready for him refusing to answer specifically .”
Cain ,due to his position as head of Godfathers Pizza, interacted with literally THOUSANDS of employees. Whenever you do this, you are bound to run into a few “head cases”
When I was a young man, I ran a mortgage company with 40 employees. One gal had the hots for me, but I wasn’t interested in her, other than as an employee. When I shunned her advances, she filed a complaint against me for.....you got it....”sexual harassment”. I had to trap her on video tape admitting that she was getting even with me for shunning her advances, in order for her to drop it.
” But—the woman was actually not “paid off” —she was fired and paid a three month’s salary settlement. That’s a huge difference! Now—I wonder how many people have worked for Mr. Cain through the years....does anyone think he remembers them all?”
Thousands of employees ? HECK no !
in an episode that has consumed his rising candidacy
LOL! Yeah, it's all anybody's talking about.
Hey New York Times - when are you going to notice the hundreds of dead Mexicans, killed with guns provided to drug cartels by this administration?
Or don't dead Mexicans count?
No. Actually, I checked on that, and it wasn’t the other accusation against Cain. Sorry, that’s what I was told, but it wasn’t accurate.
Thanks.
Herman Cain is about to be interviewed live with Laura Ingraham. I am sure this will be addressed first.
I mean it was weird for the times to use the word. It’s as if they are trying to make it sound like he had two different stories, though they gave enough evidence in their statement (the part you didn’t quote) to allow the person who bothers to read the whole thing, with comprehension, to infer that he could have gained the information he shared at night since what he said in the early afternoon.
This sort of statement is one reason I got rid of television in the 90’s. The skewed use of words to give an impression that is not correct.
I heard that the other instance, was a pregnant woman who was talking about possible names for her baby, and Cain suggested Herman. The woman complained that it made her uncomfortable because people might think that he was the father!
Awesome! I picture her faux-fainting and complaining of the vapors, while her friends fan her and console her with talk of the lawsuit.
Any woman who had a child (or adopted one) will tell you that we get all sorts of helpful advice. “You should breastfeed, you shouldn’t breastfeed, you should breastfeed for six months and then switch, name him Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John. Have you thought about Aloyisus as a name... it is interesting and you don’t hardly ever hear it. Demand a natural birth. Demand an epidural. Grab the doctor by the throat until he completely numbs you from the neck down.” *** I never minded any advice... I figured it was a person trying to help (well, except with the Aloyisus name... LOL!)
