Car Manufacturer Conservatives Can Support? [Vanity]
Vanity | November 1, 2011 | Me

Posted on 11/01/2011 5:31:05 PM PDT by WPaCon

Hi, everybody. Right now, I am beginning to consider buying a new car. As with all purchases, I try to support only companies that conservatives can support in good conscience. I've been doing some research lately, but not all information is easy to come by concerning car manufacturers. Since buying a car is a major purchasing decision that requires giving a large amount of money to a company, I've decided to also consult the experts: freepers. So what car companies should a conservative have the least trouble supporting based on things such as employing union labor, corporate donations, locations of production facilities, corporate pandering to the homosexual lobby, accepting government bailouts, etc.?

I think dennisw was doing a good job of being sarcastic. I’m in agreement with dennisw. People here are so very foolish if they believe they are going to do the country any good by boycotting GM, Chrysler, or even Ford. They are so stupid it’s pathetic. They would cut their noses off to spite their faces. I don’t know if they were born that stupid of they had to train for it.

Buy a Honda Accord. I have had 4 over the last 2 decades and have liked them all. Everyone who drives mine wants me to sell it to them. You will not be disappointed. My granddaughter has the small SUV. This last one, a 2007, will last forever since it only has 14,000 miles on it. They are comfortable, easy to drive and have huge trunks.

2010 Toyota Tundra CrewMax Limited. Designed and built in Texas, by Americans..... and without filthy union hands.

It was expensive for me, 50K—I had to sell one of my Harley’s to buy it, but it is hands down the best vehicle I have ever had and the dealer treats me like a king.

Get a Toyota truck and forget about any problems for a decade or two.

Sure, as long as you don't consider camshaft failures a problem.

That's right Kevin, go ahead and make your small pathetic contribution to the decline of American Manufacturing. It will probably make you feel good for a while. But let me remind you that what goes around comes around. One day we will need our manufacturing and we will find that we have lost critical mass in know how. That's something you cannot easily get back. It isn't like forming a financial institution like a bank or even a software firm. Those types of businesses can be formed overnight with small amounts of capital. If we were to lose any one of the final three automobile manufacturers, it would have devastating impact on the country. And Yes, I hate, loathe, and despise the UAW as much as anyone of this site. But for the greater good, we need to put up with them, at least for the time being.

Japan is no longer our enemy. As far in what they did in the past that was fine.. Time to live in the here and now and quite frankly until the UAW slugs are out of Ford, GM, and Chrysler also GM drops the Volt or no longer owned by the Government I will.. Until them heck no..

Make sure there is an “S” in the nomenclature.
*************************************************
The E’s are better drivers cars ,, that’s why they sell for higher prices 10 years down the road than those piggy “S” class cars.

Buy a E320 , E430 or E500 with low miles and enjoy the hell out of it .. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mercedes-Benz-E-Class-E500-E500-4MATIC-WAGON-SPORT-NAV-PREM-HTD-VENT-DYNAMIC-STS-HK-AUDIO-KEYLESS-/250922856255?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3a6c2aef3f

7 people in a RAV4? I was going to recommend the Subaru Forester, but neither it nor the Toyota will seat 7.

Honda of Marysville, begins its Hondas with a big roll of steel, then stamp it, then dip it, then weld trhe body together... they drive it out of the factory. Right donw the Street is the est Liberty Engine plant, where they make the famous Honda engines.

I consulted there for a year.

Honda build cars in the USA.

Thanks for the advice. I have an uneasy feeling about Dodge cars/SUVs.

I guess my expectations are a little high regarding durability, since my current car is already in its 20th year, although it is an F150 that I did not need to drive very long distances in. That’s the car that will most likely need replaced soon.

However, I won’t need to replace it with a truck.

Sorry GM needs to die. (Along with Chrysler).. The Government has no business bailing companies out. Tell me where in the Constitution that the Government has to bailout companies?? Tell me where??

Honda / Acura. One of the best companies to work for, and cars you can drive forever, great customer service (not every salesman).

There are not many made. They only have one dealer in the US which happens to be in Las Vegas. They are rather pricey but they are made in the USA! Shelby Supercars! http://www.shelbysupercars.com/

Designed and built in Texas, by Americans

And the Moon is made out of green cheese. Go right on believing that the transplants are the same as US companies. And go and read Bob Lutz's book, "Car Guys vs Bean Counters; the battle for the soul of American Business". In this book, he explains why transplants are not the same as American Companies. Only a fool would believe that. It's complicated and I cannot go into it now. But low tech final assembly or even a small and insignificant amount of design are not the same as having a US Chartered Company. All of the major and significant decisions made by Toyota are made in Japan. And if the American Car Manufacturers were to ever go down, the foreign car manufacturers would pack up and leave in a microsecond. They are only assembling (note I didn't say manufacturing) cars here because we forced them into it back in the Reagan Administration. You saw what happened to New United Motors in CA when GM pulled out. Toyota pulled the plug in no time.

Honda builds cars in the USA.

And the profits go to Japan. Funny but for all the hatred for socialism here at Free Republic, many posters don't know that the reason companies exist is to make a profit. And in this case the profits go to Nippon

"But Honda gives American workers jobs"

This is a wage slave mentality. The profits go to foreigners and makes Japan richer not America

Harley got a bailout from the govt via Reagan imposing import duties on the Japanese. But we don’t talk about that on FR, LOL.

Not unless you talk about how immediately before Reagan's import duties were instated, the International Trade Commission ruled that Japanese manufacturers were "dumping" heavy weight motorcycles in the US market.

Or that Harley Davidson asked the ITC to terminate the import duties before they were set to expire.
